Anyone who has been to Disney World knows that there are literally thousands of souvenirs available to purchase from the resort at any given time. However, over the years, there have been items that were once staples of the resort that have disappeared. Whether due to fading popularity, societal changes, or simply technological advances, these once-prevalent souvenirs have almost completely disappeared. However, many of them have modern equivalents that are still available!

*NOTE* Some of these items are still available around Disney World in certain spots, but they are nowhere near as plentiful as they once were.

Cigarettes and Tobacco Products

No Smoking Sign

Believe it or not, there was a time when tobacco products, including cigarettes, were widely sold at Disney theme parks and consumed at smoking areas in the parks, too! Since then, though, things have changed, and the products themselves have disappeared from the parks.

Postcards

Postcards

Postcards used to be a staple of Disney World, available in nearly every shop on property. Some would collect them, while others would actually use them to send messages and greetings to loved ones while on vacation. However, in the age of instant smartphone communication, postcards for communication have fallen out of favor.

That said, you can still find Disney postcards at some locations on property, as well as online shops including Amazon, though they’re more for art sake.

Pal Mickey

Disney sold the Pal Mickey in the early to mid-2000s. This interactive Mickey Plush wasn’t only a cuddly toy; it was also designed to provide location-based information and play interactive games while inside the parks. Evolving technology quickly outstripped the Pal Mickey hardware, and by the time smartphones became ubiquitous, Pal Mickey was a thing of the past.

Toy Guns

There was a time when relatively realistic toy guns were a common sight at Disney World, specifically in areas like Frontierland and Adventureland. However, as social norms have evolved and concerns over potential safety hazards have become pertinent, they’ve disappeared from Disney Parks. You can still find Disney-branded Nerf Blasters and other clearly fake projectile-firing toys themed to things like Star Wars.

Disposable Cameras

This was a time when disposable cameras were available in nearly every retail location at Walt Disney World, as families would need to purchase as many as necessary to capture their family trips. However, with the advent of digital cameras and then smartphones, disposable cameras have become a niche product. That said, there are some who love said niche and can still purchase it for their vacations on sites like Amazon.

Antenna Toppers

Antenna Toppers

Car antenna toppers — the small round balls decorated to look like nearly every Disney character you can imagine — used to be a huge presence around the cash registers of many Disney retail locations. However, as cars have evolved to the point where they no longer have antennas, the toppers have disappeared. That said, if you’re driving a classic car — or simply liked collecting the toppers — you can still find them on Amazon.

Poop Candy

Giraffe Poop

We’re ending with one of the strangest products Disney has ever sold. Several Animal Kingdom locations used to sell candy that looked like… well… the poop of certain animals.

Why anyone thought this was a good idea, we’re not sure, but if you would like to imbibe in some poop-shaped candy, you can find a similar equivalent on Amazon.
