Six Magical Family Experiences at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure

With so many exciting things happening at Disneyland Resort, there is lots of fun to consider when thinking of what to include on your list of must-dos for your visit. Here are six of our favorite activities for family trips at Disneyland Resort, whether you’re celebrating your child’s first visit or bringing the grandparents along for the vacation of a lifetime!

1. Get your camera ready to capture some heartwarming encounters with characters in both Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park. Kids and kids at heart can savor in hugs from friends like Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, practice royal greetings with their favorite Disney Princess at Fantasy Faire, strike a heroic pose with Super Heroes in Avengers Campus or even mosey through Radiator Springs with Lightning McQueen in Cars Land.

A woman and small child excitedly greet Mickey Mouse in front of his house, with Mickey's arms outstretched to say hi.

2. Play your own way in Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland park! In this animated neighborhood, the whole family can explore interactive play spaces, relax in open grassy spaces and board the family-friendly attraction Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway for a zany adventure through the cartoon world of Mickey Mouse.

3. Celebrate your little one’s first-ever “big kid ride” on a new attraction! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in Disneyland park on Nov. 15, 2024, and this adventure through the bayou will be the perfect chance for kids 40 inches and taller to brave a thrilling ride.

“Disney Junior Dance Party!” at Disney California Adventure Park features high-energy songs, dazzling special effects, and beloved characters from Disney Junior TV shows. During the party, Finn Fiesta and DJ Deejay encourage kids to sing and dance to some of their favorite Disney Junior songs along with Doc McStuffins, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and Vampirina.

4. If the young ones in your group love to sing and dance, you won’t want to miss live entertainment across the resort. Listen to charming tales in an open-air tent during Storytelling at the Royal Theatre in Fantasyland and get ready to wiggle and shimmy alongside Disney Jr. characters like Vampirina and Doc McStuffins during the “Disney Jr. Dance Party!” in Hollywood Land.

5. For exciting attractions, themed eats and encounters with characters, head to Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure park. Younger kiddos can take a spin on the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind while the older kids hop aboard the Incredicoaster, and the whole family will love food, drinks and sweets inspired by beloved Pixar stories.

6. There are tasty bites and memorable dining experiences throughout the resort, but if there’s one thing the whole family can agree on, it’s taking a break to snack on classic Disney treats like churros, popcorn and Mickey Mouse ice cream bars. There are also plenty of healthy options like fruit, snack mixes and yogurt to help keep the group’s energy up during a day full of fun.
