Disney4me
Disney World does a lot to keep its rides in tip-top shape. Sometimes that means that rides will close so Disney can add some little extra touches, as well as do needed maintenance. Disney refers to this as “refurbishment.” The Jungle Cruise will be back soon! This summer, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster reopened in Disney World after a lengthy refurbishment with some small touch-ups. We’ve also seen some rides reopen with a few changes, although most changes made during refurbishment aren’t something you might even notice. Recently, Disney closed Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom for refurbishment, and just after the ride’s reopening yesterday, we got a sneak peek at some of the little touches Disney added to the ride. Disney posted a fun video to social media showing a little bit of the detail work that has been happening over on Jungle Cruise, particularly in the scene with the lions (don’t worry, folks, that zebra is just sleeping!). Meet Madison, color and paint artisan who helped touch up some scenes for the ride. ©Disney Disney touched up some of the paint on the ride, including this particular scene where the lions are with the (sleeping) zebra. The idea was to make the rockwork look even more realistic when visitors sail by in their Jungle Cruise boats. ©Disney Once they decide on colors, the paint crew starts doing their thing by adding certain colors and textures to the rockwork. In this particular instance, the team decided that the color should be more of a tan over its previous orangey-red. They also add highlights and shadows to make it look that much more real. ©Disney Here’s what the finished rockwork looks like. ©Disney You’ll get to see this detail for yourself if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom and ride Jungle Cruise.
