Disney4me
2024 has been FULL of huge Disney announcements. The Walt Disney Company Back in August, Disney announced new lands, attractions, and entertainment headed to the theme parks, new ships coming to the Disney Cruise Line, new movies and shows we’ll be able to see in theaters and on Disney+, and so much more! We’ve recently learned that Bob Iger’s successor will now be announced in 2026 and that Lightning Lane Premier Pass is coming to Disneyland and Disney World. But soon, we’re expecting even more news to drop from the Walt Disney Company. On November 14th, CEO Bob Iger and other Disney executives will gather to host the 4th quarter and 2024 fiscal year earnings call. At this call, the company will share reports of the past quarter’s earnings and losses, as well as how the full year turned out. We’ll learn which parts of the company, such as parks, cruise line, and entertainment, had gains and losses over the quarter and year. These calls are generally geared toward the shareholders, who are typically most interested in learning how the company has performed financially. The Walt Disney Company However, these meetings can certainly be of interest to all other Disney fans, not just the shareholders, as Iger and the other executives tend to use these calls as a stage for making big announcements. In the past, we’ve heard about new ESPN apps, Disney+ changes, parks news, and more at these events. Because of this, we’re sure we’re about to hear some more Disney news soon. The Walt Disney Company Hurricane Milton A huge event that happened this year was Hurricane Milton. This hurricane blasted across Florida and caused Disney to close the Walt Disney World theme parks. This was only the 11th time in Disney World history that the parks have closed. The parks closed for about a day and a half until they reopened after being thoroughly checked for damage. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton Since the closures, many Disney fans have wondered what the financial impact of closing the theme parks was for the company. Many guests remained at the hotels, which means Disney was still providing food, entertainment, and more but at a reduced cost and with far less revenue coming in than normal those days. Overcast skies after Hurricane Milton Disney will likely discuss these impacts with shareholders on November 14th during the earnings call, and we’ll be listening in to find out what the damage was. Disney+ A favorite topic of Iger’s to discuss at the earnings calls is Disney+. Disney+ is a hot topic as it has been a process to get the streaming platform to have a gross income instead of losing money each quarter. Finally, at the last earnings call, Disney reported a gain instead of a loss on the service, but we’ll be interested to see if that trend continues. ©Disney Disney has also talked about new additions to Disney+ at these earnings calls. One that we are eager to hear about is the new ESPN tile that is supposed to be landing on the app, similar to the Hulu tile that is currently available. Will a launch date for the new tile be announced on November 14th? ©Disney Recently, Disney has announced price increases for the service along with new live streams that play continuously. These streams include the Hallowstream, Disney+ playtime, ABC News, Real Life, Throwbacks, and Hits & Heroes channels. Will more new additions be announced at the earnings call as Disney continues to add options to the service to make it match its pricing? ©Disney The end-of-the-year earnings calls are always ones of interest for Disney fans and shareholders!
