Disney4me
When you’re planning out your stay at Walt Disney World, you really only have a couple of options when it comes to the hotels on the property. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Specifically you’ve got Value, Moderate, and Deluxe resort hotels. But when you look at all of the new options, it starts to seem that you’ve really only got one — Deluxe hotels. Now, that got us thinking about this trend of no new Moderate or Value resorts in Disney World, so we reached out to you to get your thoughts. Well, we asked and you delivered! We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What are your thoughts on Disney World adding more deluxe resorts to its property? Do you think it’s a good idea, or should Disney be adding more value resorts?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, you were basically divided into one of two camps, so let’s dive into some of your top responses! Say it with Me: “More Affordable Options!” No one can deny that a big part of Disney World’s charm has always been that it offers something for everyone, and that includes hotels at various price points. So, when the idea of even more deluxe hotels being constructed came up, many of you expressed concern that Disney could be drifting away from affordability, which is totally understandable. To that point, many of you felt that Disney should prioritize value and moderate options that are accessible to families and fans who don’t want to break the bank on their hotel room. Disney’s Pop Century Resort For example, Sue put it plainly, saying, “They definitely need more affordable hotels, whether it’s moderate or value. Honestly, deluxe is way out of our price range, and I suspect it is for so many others.” Stacy added simply that, “More and nicer Moderates are desperately needed!!!” Jayme echoed this by adding, “More value. I would love to see a value that’s not the over theming of Disney. Maybe more of a subtle Disney like the deluxe and moderates.” Coronado Springs Nyree shared a nuanced perspective, saying, “If more available deluxe rooms brought the price down I’d be all for it, but I don’t see Disney ever lowering prices for anything. I would like more moderate options that aren’t exclusively only using bus transportation. I can’t afford deluxe, I would like a nicer room/pool/dining options than value, but I don’t want to only use busses like at Port Orleans or Coronado Springs. Maybe building another moderate on the Skyliner or on the Monorail would be nice. I know a lot of people dislike CBR but it’s my favorite simply for the Skyliner access.” Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner You can see the theme here, right? You are calling for more budget-friendly options that still offer a touch of magic but don’t come with the steep price tags of deluxe resorts. How About We Stop with the Hotels and Focus on Something Else? For our second group, others of you think the focus should be ANYWHERE but on more hotel expansions. Specifically, you feel that Disney World needs to put resources into building more attractions (or even new parks) to keep up with the ever-growing crowds. For you, more rooms without more activities just means longer lines and packed walkways. Crowds in Magic Kingdom For example, Maribeth voiced a pretty popular sentiment, saying, “They need to be adding another park so crowds can spread out and guests can actually ride all the rides. They keep building resorts but no additional places for people to go to.” Everyone waiting patiently to get in Similarly, Joseph took a hard stance with, “I think they need to stop adding ANY RESORTS and start adding more attractions…” To that point, Cheri added, “I’d actually rather they work on giving us new attractions without taking away the existing ones. Every time they say we’re getting something new, we’re really just getting a replacement for something we already enjoy.” Animal Kingdom crowds In short, you are hoping for more rides, and not just more rooms. You’re all for ensuring there’s enough for everyone to do without long waits and overcrowded spaces.
