Cold weather has finally hit Orlando! Okay, well, cold by Florida’s standards, anyway.

Snow in Florida!

The temperature is dropping and that means no more sweating as you schlep your way from ride to ride around Disney World. But, cold weather isn’t always good news for Disney World parks. In fact, this cold snap has actually forced the closure of one park, in particular, and we’ve got all the details.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park recently reopened on November 4th after a months-long closure and we were there to check it all out! This park is themed after a ski resort — as the story goes, a random snowstorm hit the Sunshine State, resulting in the construction of a ski resort for folks to enjoy the wintery weather. But then, all the snow melted in the heat and we were left with a water park! If you had plans to go to Blizzard Beach this week, you might want to rethink them.

Due to cold weather, Blizzard Beach will be closed from Thursday, November 21st through Saturday, November 23rd. As of now, the Disney World calendar shows the park reopening on Sunday, November 24th, but we’ll let you know if that changes. Make sure you double-check the Disney website or My Disney Experience app for the most updated information about park hours ahead of your visit!

The forecast for November 21st shows a high of 68 degrees and a low of 47 for the Orlando area. On November 22nd, the high is expected to stay at 68 degrees with low temps potentially dropping to 43 degrees. Saturday is forecast to have a high temperature of 66 degrees — so if you’re planning to be in the parks this weekend make sure you pack and dress accordingly!

When weather like this comes to Disney World, it can be hard to know how to pack! We recommend dressing in layers. It’s typically colder in the mornings and at night, but when the sun hits it can still get a little warm. Keep in mind that you can always bring extra clothes and change if you get uncomfortable, but you may have to carry them around with you. Or, rent a locker and keep your extra clothes in there!

Your best bet is going to be to keep a close eye on the weather as your trip approaches so you know what to pack for. Or, take a page out of our playbook and purposely don’t pack things so you have an excuse to buy them once you get to Disney World. BOOM!

It turns out Blizzard Beach isn’t so blizzard-friendly after all! If you’re heading to Disney World soon, make sure you double-check the weather because it can change from day to day — and even hour to hour.
