Disney4me
In case you haven’t heard (though, at this point, it seems like EVERYONE is talking about the news), Disney confirmed that the Muppet Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closing to make way for Monsters, Inc. Land. Animal goofing off in Muppet*Vision 3D Muppet*Vision 3D will permanently close when this part of the park closes. Or…will it? Well, thanks to some mysterious clues from both Disney AND The Jim Henson Company, we have a lot of new questions about the fate of this iconic show. When Disney announced its new plans for the Grand Avenue section of Hollywood Studios, it confirmed a few important things: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival” The world of Monsters, Inc. will be built on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios (in place of the Muppets Courtyard) A whole new theater show is coming to the new Monsters, Inc. Land Disney also tucked a potential clue about Muppet*Vision 3D in its recent announcement, and it has a lot of fans theorizing about what it could mean. The statement reads, “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” Does this mean the show will take on a new 2D format on Disney+? Who knows! Actually, we know who knows. ©The Jim Henson Company On November 23rd, The Jim Henson Company took to social media to share a statement about the recent news. The statement reads: Jim Henson’s final project was Muppet*Vision 3D, now regarded as a true theme park classic. Innovation was always Jim Henson’s north star, and his trailblazing career led him to a unique challenge: a truly immersive Muppet experience where audiences are part of the happy chaos of the iconic Muppet Show. Originally debuting in 1991, Muppet*Vision 3D combined 3D technology with real-world practical effects, alongside animatronic and live Muppet characters. The result was a one-of-a-kind Jim Henson experience, and an unforgettable capstone to Jim’s magnificent career. As we learn of the show’s upcoming closure in its current form at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , we look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act. MuppetVision 3D Theater One part of this statement caught our eye. Did anyone notice it? The Company said, “We look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act.” What could THAT mean?!
