Disney4me
We hope you aren’t hungry right now because we are about to take you with us to try out a Disney World restaurant, and we are not responsible for any sudden cravings or watering mouths. Walt Disney World Swan Today, we are heading over to the Walt Disney World’s Swan Hotel to try out one of its many excellent restaurants. We are excited to see what this restaurant has to offer and, of course, take you all along with us! Il Mulino New York Trattoria is located in Walt Disney World’s Swan Hotel, and it serves up traditional meals from the Abruzzi region of Italy. This is the second location for the restaurant, with the original location being in Greenwich Village, New York. Inside, you will find dark wood tones, rustic lighting, and brick walls as you dine on rich, authentic flavors. Let’s head inside! Atmosphere The entrance to the restaurant is simple and welcoming, and we can already see how the wood elements are coming into play in this restaurant. Il Mulino You will find Il Mulino nestled in the lobby of Walt Disney World’s Swan Hotel. The restaurant is filled with wood tones and lots of beautiful brickwork. The restaurant feels cozy yet elevated. Il Mulino In addition to a dining area, there is also a large lounge area where you can go to sip on your beverage of choice and relax. There was lots of natural lighting in here and the use of wood tones continued into the lounge. Il Mulino The table settings are simple and welcoming, but still get you excited for the upcoming meal. The table was even set with a bottle of olive oil in addition to the salt and pepper. Table Setting Now that we have made it to our table, let’s take a look at the menu! Menu The restaurant offers an extensive menu, including a large selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages. Il Mulino Menu For starters, you can choose from a variety of antipasti, insalate, and zuppe. ©Disney There are options for pizza and pasta. ©Disney You can also order meals family-style, dishes from the grill, or chicken. ©Disney There are also options for veal and fish, as well as numerous side options. ©Disney You can choose from a variety of desserts, and there are also options for children’s meals. ©Disney Il Mulino also had a huge selection of alcohol, including some specialty cocktails. They also have an extensive wine menu and numerous beer options. ©Disney Now that we have taken a look at the menu, let’s take a look at what we ordered! Drinks To drink, we got the Primobacio, Moscato D’ Asti, which cost $14. Primobacio, Moscato D’ Asti This was wonderful and paired well with our whole meal, which honestly felt like one you’d want to have wine with, so it didn’t disappoint. Eats For a starter, we were served a basket of fresh bread along with some eggplant. Fresh Bread The eggplant here was so savory and you spread it on like a cold topping, and the bread was soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside like we wanted. The two of them together helped stimulate our appetite, which is what you want out of a bread service! Eggplant Next up, we got the Carpaccio Di Carne, which is thinly sliced Tuscan-style beef served with arugula, extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and carpaccio sauce. You can get this dish for $17. This was spectacular! Our reporter isn’t usually one for raw meat appetizers, but the beef was cut incredibly thin, and the flavors were balanced extremely well. A real winner in our book. Carpaccio Di Carne We also tried the Insalata Caprese which cost $16. It is buffalo mozzarella with beef steak tomatoes, capers and roasted peppers. This was missing some of the fresh basil we were expecting, but the mozzarella and tomatoes were extremely high quality, which made up for it in our eyes. Insalata Caprese For our entrees, we started with the Rigatoni Con Funghi for $29. This dish is rigatoni with wild mushrooms, spicy cherry peppers, garlic, and truffle oil. This was our favorite item of the night. This was a half serving, as our reporters were sharing, and they loved the huge mushrooms and delicious truffle oil and garlic. Rigatoni Con Funghi It was very savory and aromatic, and the pasta was perfectly cooked, but what really took it to the next level for us was the spicy cherry peppers. It gave the dish a kick that we didn’t expect but totally loved! Rigatoni Con Funghi We also got the Pollo Parmigiana, which cost $35. It is pounded, breaded chicken breast served with fresh tomato sauce, and Italian cheese. This was the best chicken parmesan our reporter had ever had. The chicken was pounded so thin, which made it perfectly tender and easy to cut; it was perfectly breaded, and the tomato sauce was FRESH. It was Italian flavors at its most basic yet finest. Pollo Parmigiana Finally, for dessert, we got the Tiramisu for $14. This is layered espresso and coffee liquor-infused Lady Fingers coated with mascarpone cream. Tiramisu We really enjoyed this, but we felt it needed more of the lady fingers inside of it. It was well made, though, which made it hard to mess up, and it was a great end to the meal overall. Tiramisu Overall Overall, this place isn’t overly themed. In fact, it almost LOOKS like you’re sitting in a place that’s serving overpriced brunch, so it almost felt strange the food was so good. However, because it’s so out of the way and the atmosphere is a little meh, you might not have thought of coming here, even though the Italian food was incredible. Il Mulino Compared with Via Napoli, which you can find in EPCOT, which is the closest comparison you can get on the level of fine Italian food, you may prefer to go to Via Napoli since it’s in EPCOT. That said, this is a great option if you’re willing to stop by! Nosh or Not? This spot will be a fantastic fit for you if: You love delicious, high-quality Italian food You’re staying at the Swan or Dolphin hotels You don’t mind traveling decently far away from the parks to get a fantastic meal Il Mulino However, it may not be your speed if: You’re staying at another Disney World hotel or are attempting to stay in/close to the parks You’re just looking to eat something, not a standout meal You want more comprehensive theming (not even Disney theming, just a theme overall) We have eaten everywhere in Disney World, and we aren’t stopping there!
