Disney4me
We love a Disney Cruise! Disney Wish at Castaway Cay When it comes to sailing on Disney cruises, we know a thing or two! We recently explored the brand-new Disney Treasure ship and it just made us want to go sailing again but this newest update might make your Disney cruise even more expensive. We love a Disney cruise! From the delicious food to the beautiful port stops, there are so many things to see and do when you’re sailing, but we won’t pretend like this comes cheap. Just like almost anything with the Disney name attached to it, hopping on board a Disney cruise ship can cost a pretty penny. The Disney Dream Now if you’re on a Disney Cruise headed to any of the Mexico ports, you might be paying extra! According to AP News, the lower house of Mexico’s Congress has voted to charge a 42 million dollar immigrant fee for passengers coming in on any cruise ship into the country. Cozumel! If you’re going with a family of four into any of Disney’s ports there, that could add nearly $170 to the total cost of your cruise. Previously there was a long-standing policy where cruise passengers weren’t required to pay immigration fees because of the fact that they don’t stay overnight in the country. Disney’s Nassau Port in the Bahamas Not every cruise makes a stop in the Mexico ports though! Disney Cruise Line has several different ports that you can stop at. In Mexico, there are several different port options like Ensenada, Puerto Vallarta, Progreso, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Cabo San Lucas, and more. The ship and itinerary you select will determine which ports you stop in. Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay Ships like the Disney Wonder, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Dream could all be impacted depending on your itinerary. This price increase hasn’t gone into effect yet and won’t until the Senate passes the bill as well. The Senate is expected to vote on it in December 2024. Let’s hop on board! If you aren’t thrilled about this price increase, you aren’t alone. The Mexican Association of Shipping Agents has called for the government President Claudia Sheinbaum and the Senate to stop this bill. The association released a statement saying, ““If implemented, this measure would place Mexican tourist ports among the most expensive in the world, severely affecting the country’s competitiveness against Caribbean destinations.” View of the port If this bill passes the Senate, it won’t begin impacting cruisers until 2026.
