When one goes to Magic Kingdom, one has to take advantage of the good eats at the park.

And speaking of good eats, we knew we were good for a hearty meal that we could seriously chow down on – one that could potentially have us rolling out in a wheelbarrow. And we knew exactly where we had to go and we’re taking you along with us for the ride.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

Located in Liberty Square, The Diamond Horseshoe has a rich history that blends into the park’s old-timey, Americana vibe. It’s designed to evoke the Wild West saloons of yesteryear, where cowboys would gather for a hearty meal and some entertainment. The restaurant serves up a themed dining experience with unlimited servings of classic American holiday favorites. Think Thanksgiving dinner, but with Disney flair.

Diamond Horseshoe

As always, reservations are highly recommended, especially during peak park seasons.

Atmosphere

Let’s talk about the vibe, shall we? The Diamond Horseshoe feels like stepping back in time to an old-school saloon, complete with polished wood floors, ornate chandeliers, and an upper balcony that gives it a theater-like feel. It’s casual yet immersive, striking that balance between park dining and themed experience.

That said, not everything hits the mark. The seating can be a bit uncomfortable, especially if you’re someone who likes to adjust your chair to find the perfect position. You know those rubber chair caps that prevent sliding? Yeah, they’re not winning any fans here. If you’re sensitive to seating or need a bit more room, you might find yourself shifting uncomfortably throughout the meal.

On the plus side, the servers are delightful, and the general energy in the restaurant feels warm and welcoming. They even joked about having wheelbarrows in the back to roll us out after we stuffed ourselves. Sadly, no wheelbarrows actually appeared, but points for the effort.

Menu

The experience is an all-you-care-to-enjoy one that includes turkey, pot roast, pork, and a slew of sides served family-style, along with desserts that cater to even the sweetest sweet tooth. It will run you $44 per adult and $24 per child.

And yes, if you’re plant-based, there are options for you too.

You’ll also find plenty of options should you be in the mood for an alcoholic drink like their specialty drinks, beer, and wine.

Eats

Now, onto the main event: the food. The Diamond Horseshoe serves a set menu family-style, so you don’t have to make tough decisions. And yes, they serve the same food as Liberty Tree Tavern. So if you were hoping to eat at Liberty Tree but couldn’t get a reservation, just snag one for Diamond Horseshoe!! Here’s what we thought about each dish:

Starters

Rolls

Let’s start with the rolls because, let’s be honest, rolls set the tone for the meal. These are divine. They’re soft, fluffy, and have a slight sweetness that pairs perfectly with the garlic butter topping.

The Diamond Horseshoe

They’re basically the love child of a holiday dinner roll and a buttery garlic knot. They’re quite dangerous, because you’ll want to fill up on these before the main course arrives.

For plant-based diners, the vegan rolls are equally addictive – so good, in fact that you won’t even miss the butter.

Salad

The salad is fresh and surprisingly delightful. A mix of spring greens, dried cranberries, thinly sliced radishes, diced apples, and white cheddar cheese, all tossed in a sweet vinaigrette.

It’s a crowd-pleaser – simple, balanced, and kid-friendly without being boring.

Main Course – Saloon Feast

Pot Roast

The standout star of the meal. This pot roast is tender, flavorful, and swimming in a savory au jus that tastes like it’s been simmering all day.

The Diamond Horseshoe

It’s well-seasoned without being overly salty, with just a hint of onion and black pepper. If you only had one thing to eat here, make it the pot roast.

Turkey

The turkey is another solid option. It’s moist with a delicate herb butter that enhances its flavor without overpowering it.

The Diamond Horseshoe

You don’t have to worry that this one is one of those dry turkey stereotypes. This one delivers.

Oven-Roasted Pork

Unfortunately, the pork didn’t hold its own. It was dry, and the mushroom gravy meant to save it just fell flat.

If you’re ranking the meats, this one comes in last. Not terrible, but not memorable either.

Impossible Meatloaf

We also had the plant-based option – the Impossible Meatloaf.

The Diamond Horseshoe

It was also a stand-out for us with it’s fantastic combinations of flavors – salty, tangy, and vinegary flavors. You’ll want seconds of this.

Mashed Potatoes

Never change, Disney mashed potatoes. These are creamy, buttery, and have a subtle tang from sour cream.

The Diamond Horseshoe

They’re comfort food perfection and need no extra seasoning or gravy to shine.

Stuffing

Stuffing is always a gamble because everyone’s grandma makes it differently. Diamond Horseshoe’s version plays it safe with classic poultry seasoning flavors of sage and thyme, plus hints of onion and celery.

The Diamond Horseshoe

It’s nostalgic and satisfying – just don’t expect anything groundbreaking.

Green Beans

The green beans are cooked al dente, which is a relief because no one likes mushy veggies.

They’re tossed in garlic and seasoning, but they could use a bit more oomph. Not bad, but not the scene-stealer of the table.

Macaroni and Cheese

The mac and cheese sparked some debate. While it’s a definite hit for kids and those looking for comfort food, it lacked the creaminess we remembered from our many times dining at Liberty Tree Tavern.

The Diamond Horseshoe

This batch felt a bit dry, like it was scraped from the bottom of the pan. Still tasty, but not its usual show-stopping self.

Cranberry Sauce

This isn’t your average cranberry sauce. It’s a cross between traditional cranberry sauce and apple butter – sweet, tangy, and packed with flavor.

It pairs beautifully with the turkey and stuffing, but honestly, we could eat it by the spoonful.

Desserts and Drinks

Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake

The dessert included in your meal is the famous ooey gooey toffee cake, and yes, it’s as rich and decadent as it sounds. It’s warm, sticky, and paired with vanilla bean ice cream.

The Diamond Horseshoe

Be warned – while we love it, it’s extremely sweet, so if you’re looking for a lighter finish, you might want to skip this and go for the next item.

Tavern Punch

This is where things get fun. The Tavern Punch is essentially Dole Whip spun into a slushy and topped with Sprite.

The Diamond Horseshoe

It’s light, refreshing, and an absolute must for Dole Whip enthusiasts. If you’re not into heavy desserts, this is the perfect way to end the meal.

Plant-Based Apple Cake

This one’s a miss. While the cake itself is delicious, the caramel sauce and coconut cream topping just didn’t work.

The Diamond Horseshoe

The caramel was bitter and had a strange aftertaste, which clashed with the otherwise enjoyable cake. Stick to the toffee cake or the punch if you want to end on a high note.

Overall

Overall, the Diamond Horseshoe is a solid choice for a hearty, comforting meal in Magic Kingdom, but it’s not without its flaws.

If you go in knowing what to expect and lean into the best dishes, you’re bound to leave happy – and maybe in need of that wheelbarrow after all.

Nosh or Not?

Spend an evening at the Diamond Horseshoe if…

  • You’re looking for comfort food galore. The rolls, mashed potatoes, and pot roast are probably worth the visit alone
  • Wanting a Family-Friendly Atmosphere. The menu and vibe are perfect for families with kids or anyone looking for a relaxed dining experience.
  • The Tavern Punch. This Dole Whip creation is a must-try for fans of unique Disney drinks.
  • You couldn’t get a reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern

We’d recommend another Disney World restaurant if…

  • You’re looking for the most comfortable seats. Those bentwood chairs can be a dealbreaker if comfort is a priority.
  • You’re looking for an amazing plant-based dessert. If you’re plant-based, the Apple Cake isn’t the sweet ending you’re hoping for.
  • You’re wanting your whole meal to be top tier. While some items shine (pot roast and rolls), others like the pork and mac and cheese feel like an afterthought.

We’re constantly eating our way around Disney World! Be sure to read through a few of our most recent reviews below and stay tuned with us for even more to come.
