Disney4me Posted January 15 Report Share Posted January 15 64 Disney employees have lost their homes to the California wildfires, while hundreds more have been evacuated, according to The New York Times. The Walt Disney Company headquarters in California Those who have been evacuated included the Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger, who is now overseeing relief efforts for those within the company. From a hotel room, Iger has approved $15 million for “community services and rebuilding efforts.” The company is arranging for those who have lost their homes to get free furnished housing for two months, along with opening the studio wardrobe warehouse to employees who need clothes. CEO Bob Iger ©Disney Mr. Iger has also been personally calling those employees who have lost their homes to check in with them. “I want them to know that people at the top of the company are looking after them, that we care,” said Mr. Iger. “We’re going to go through some really tough times here, but we’ll get through it together.” Via @robertiger on Instagram As far as movie production goes, the company hasn’t seen a significant impact due to the fires. The Burbank studio luckily didn’t see any fire, while the Pixar and Lucasfilm studios are both located in Northern California, away from the wildfires. However, 20th Century Studio, owned by Disney, saw two productions halt, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and Avatar: Fire and Ash. ©Disney These relief efforts come as many people in Southern California have lost their homes or have been evacuated due to the wildfires raging through the area.
