Muppet*Vision 3D For years, this show has been such an underrated gem tucked away in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but with all the changes happening around it, we can’t ignore the fact that its future is looking pretty grim. That’s why we wanted to share our thoughts on what Disney should actually do with Muppet*Vision 3D instead of letting it close down forever. Let’s break it down. The Disney+ Option Listen, we get it. There have been classic Disney attractions that have found a second life on Disney+, and in theory, MuppetVision 3D could follow that path. But there’s one major issue: the 3D. Unless you’re one of the few people who still have a 3D television and a working set of 3D glasses at home (respect), the experience just wouldn’t hit the same. Kermit in Muppet*Vision Now, to be fair, a flat, non-3D version could work, but it would strip away a huge part of what makes the show so unique. If this were the only way to save MuppetVision, we’d begrudgingly accept it. Maybe Disney could film a special version that captures some of the in-theater effects so home viewers don’t miss out entirely. A Relocation Besides the Newly Re-themed Muppets Coaster Now, let’s talk about the Muppets re-theme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. If Disney is going all-in on this Muppet re-theme, why not move Muppet*Vision 3D closer to its new thrill ride sibling? ©Disney A simple theater setup near the coaster’s entrance could keep the show alive while giving guests a full Muppets experience in one concentrated area. Sure, it might not have all the in-theater effects of its current home, but at least it wouldn’t be disappearing into the Disney archives forever. Muppet*Vision 3D Speaking of the coaster, can we PLEASE talk about the most important part of all this? If Disney is going to put in all the effort of making a Muppets coaster, Statler and Waldorf must be involved. Imagine them heckling riders from their balcony as they launch into the ride, or even better, replacing Aerosmith entirely in the preshow. Statler and Waldorf in Muppet*Vision 3D Picture it: Instead of Steven Tyler handing out backstage passes, Statler and Waldorf are roasting guests while “prepping them” for the wildest ride of their lives. We would be seated for that. The Ultimate Dream: Muppets and Monsters? Okay, now for our slightly unhinged dream scenario. Hear us out here. What if Disney just left it where it is and gave it a light re-theme? A crossover show featuring the Muppets and the monsters could be pure chaos in the best way possible. Hey, Monsters! Imagine Fozzie trying to do stand-up for Roz, or Gonzo and Mike Wazowski arguing over who’s the better performer. It could be a match made in comedy heaven, and let’s be honest, the Muppets are already known for their ridiculous crossovers. Muppet*Vision 3D At the end of the day, Muppet*Vision 3D deserves better than to be quietly swept away in the ever-changing landscape of Hollywood Studios. Whether it gets a new home near the Muppets coaster, a re-imagined version for Disney+, or even a completely unhinged Muppets/Monsters mash-up, one thing is clear: Disney needs to make sure this show lives on.
