REVIEW: Even One of Our FAVORITE Disney Springs Restaurants Can’t Make a Turkey Leg Better

Recommended Posts

We’re big fans of the majority of the restaurants in Disney Springs, because while you can find some hidden gems in the parks, the fantastic dining options are usually outside those park gates.

One of our favorites is The Polite Pig, which is home to some great barbecue options. We found out there was a new option here that we had to try, but we’ll be honest, it totally wasn’t what we were expecting.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

The Polite Pig is located in the Town Center section of Disney Springs and is home to barbecue classics with a unique twist such as Glazed Chicken Wings, BBQ Cheddar Bites, Low & Slow Brisket, Fried Chicken, and so much more.

Their newest offering on the menu is their Smoked Turkey Leg for $24. This is a turkey leg complete with a rootbeer glaze over it. We typically don’t recommend turkey legs, but we were hoping this one would be an exception.

Smoked Turkey Leg

Now this this was MASSIVE and we think would be easily shareable, however we were very disappointed by the flavor and quality. While it was super sticky and appeared to be lathered in the rootbeer glaze when we got it, we couldn’t taste the rootbeer flavor anywhere.

Unfortunately all that glaze has no flavor

The turkey itself was also very tough and dry, so the glaze did nothing to ease that. In fact, we were shocked because despite how messy it was at the start, we couldn’t taste any of the glaze after we took our photos, it was as if the glaze had disappeared or soaked into the turkey, but it wasn’t any more moist.

It looked great, but the taste was far from it

It was extremely tough to bite through and had no flavor, so overall we were very unimpressed. However, it does come with your choice of a side, as well as coleslaw and a piece of cornbread. We chose mac and cheese as our side and were very impressed with both that and the cornbread, but the coleslaw fell a little flat for us. Overall, we think it’s better to get the sides rather than get the turkey leg, especially for $24!
