We FINALLY know what is replacing the former NBA Experience at Disney Springs! Well, we think we know, anyway.

LEVEL99, an interactive, social entertainment experience known for its challenge rooms will open its first-ever Florida location in Disney Springs!

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

This new addition will mark LEVEL99’s fifth location — a first-of-its-kind (okay, fifth) destination for real-world, challenge-based, social entertainment for adults featuring over 50 physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments. It’s essentially a giant, futuristic arcade and entertainment center.

Disney reportedly selected LEVEL99 after “a comprehensive review of the location-based entertainment industry.”

“We are defining the category and setting the standard for out-of-home, interactive entertainment,” said LEVEL99 CEO and Founder Matthew DuPlessie, who leads the team behind LEVEL99.

“After spending two decades in the location-based entertainment industry, it became clear there was consumer demand for a concept like this – a real unmet need. Our vision is to make ‘challenge rooms’ a mainstream concept, and the opportunity to open at a marquee location like Disney Springs is the next step in our plans to expand the LEVEL99 brand nationally.”

DuPlessie launched the first escape room style concept in the world back in 2004, and later opened the first LEVEL99 location in 2021. The company’s proprietary entertainment offerings “are developed in the company’s game design studio where creators and engineers dream up and produce a variety of new challenges every year to keep the experience fresh and ever changing.”

The Disney Springs location will be the largest LEVEL99 to date with over 60 challenge rooms and duels. It will occupy over 45,000 square feet in a two-story space (which we’re assuming is the former NBA Experience) and will feature dining with a chef-crafted menu — including LEVEL99’s award-winning, Detroit-style pizza.

A Fictitious Name filing was published in the Orlando Sentinel on February 19th, listing “Level99” as the registered name for Open World Entertainment LLC, operating at 1486 East Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 — which would match up with the NBA Experience location.

We can’t wait to learn more and experience it for ourselves! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news from Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss a thing!
