Disney4me
There are three things most people know about Disney World: it will probably be crowded, it will most likely be hot, and it will be expensive. While a Disney World vacation definitely won’t be the most budget-friendly option for vacation, we truly think there is something — dare we say — magical about a Disney vacation. Magic Kingdom While a Disney vacation can be very, very expensive, there are also lots of ways to save money while still having fun! One of my favorite Disney World activities is often overlooked, but it is such a fun time and can be completely FREE! Plan for a resort hopping day! It can be a more relaxed day, but you can still explore Disney World and check out some really amazing spots. Disney World has more than 30 hotels and exploring them is easier than you might think. Coronado Springs It is easy and FREE! You can park at Disney Springs for free and then take whatever resort bus suits your fancy. I recommend parking in the Orange Garage as it lets you out close to the bus depot. Then you can hop from resort to resort as much as your heart desires. An important note that there are no buses that run between resorts, so you will need to take a bus to one of the parks or Disney Springs first, and then you can catch a bus to a different Disney Resort. Disney Springs Bus Directory I always just hop on the next bus that is coming to the bus depot at the resort and then change buses to get to my next destination. You can also come up with some fun ways to choose where you are going next. You can go completely random with a random number generator and head to that bus station, have each person choose a resort, or watch to see which bus shows up next. Also, don’t forget that you can take advantage of other transportation options like the Skyliner or monorail too! Skyliner Once you have decided which hotel you are heading to, you can do some research on the bus ride over or just wait and be surprised! There is SO much to do at the resorts, and you could even spend all day just admiring the architecture. But if architecture isn’t your jam, there are also activities like painting experiences, horseback riding, and craft stations, plus lots of dining and shopping options. Wilderness Lodge Lobby Each Disney World hotel has lots of unique activities, as well as dining and shopping options. Here is where the adventure could cost you some money. While this activity can be completely free, you might want to budget some money to grab a bite, pick up some souvenirs, or take part in an activity. Pulled Pork Nachos from Capt. Cook’s The Disney World hotels offer various activities that you can take advantage of. For example, you can find arcades at many of the hotels. All-Star Movies also has a photo booth, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has a make-your-own necklace station, and Disney’s Grand Floridian has a DIY ears activity. You can even find an Archery Experience at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, and Disney’s Coronado Springs offers a painting experience. Hotels also host movie nights and some also feature playgrounds. And that is just a few of the activities that you can take part in! Finished Ears at the DIY Ear Activity Beyond the activities at the resort, there are also lots of dining options! You can stop for a quick bite to eat at the hotel’s quick service restaurant or choose to eat at one of the sit-down restaurants. Some of our favorite Disney World restaurants are at Disney World hotels including Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, or Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Olivia’s Cafe But one of my favorite things to do while resort hopping is to just relax! Most hotels have some pretty fantastic seating areas. You can see the castle from the beach of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or swing in a hammock at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Or grab a rocking chair in front of the fire at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Then you can take a few minutes to just take in all the beauty around you. Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney hotels also have running trails or pathways that you can explore! Sometimes the running trail takes you through nature, while other trails may take you in between hotels like the trail that connects the Transportation & Ticket Center with the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian. Running Trail at Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside You might be wondering if you could resort hop via a car? While you might be able to accomplish this, I highly recommend sticking to Disney transportation. Certain hotels might require you to be staying at the hotel or have a dining reservation there to enter in your car. I like to make things easy and just hop on Disney transportation so I don’t have to worry about whether I will make it inside or not! Disney Bus Resort hopping can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be, and I think it is a great activity for a semi-rest day. I do want to note that during very busy times, like Halloween or Christmas/New Year, some hotels like Fort Wilderness or the Polynesian might limit access to non-resort guests. But other than that, by hopping on a bus at Disney Springs you just unlocked the ability to explore the Disney World hotels! Art of Animation Resort There are lots of options for things to do at Disney World, and one of my favorites is resort hopping. It is a more relaxing day but still filled with fun as you explore the Disney World hotels. Make sure to stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World tips, tricks, and news!
