Disney4me
Disney has finally announced that an entirely new land will be arriving in the unused land behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom, and we can’t wait. Magic Kingdom However, some Disney fans are feeling a little apprehensive about this new addition because it’s questionable if a Villains Land truly fits in Magic Kingdom, the park that’s arguably most friendly for kids and families. However, some kids love Disney Villains, but how much will this land really be friendly towards younger kids? Here’s what we know so far. The truth is that right now, Disney hasn’t released too much about this new land. We’ve gotten one set of concept art which was released at Disney’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event back in August 2024, and we know that Disney’s started construction on the new land already, but that’s about it. The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions. However, we can tell a lot from that concept art! Disney has created this land to look quite dark in the concept art, which leads many people to believe that this will be far from kid-friendly. It’s important to remember though that this land takes place in Magic Kingdom, which is arguably the most family-friendly/kid-centered park of all four. ©Disney With that being said, it would be likely an unwise decision for Disney to switch gears entirely and have a section of a family-friendly park be unfriendly for people of all ages. While many people do lots of research before their Disney World trip, there are also those who travel in completely blind and plan little to nothing. The last thing Disney would want is for unsuspecting families to wander into an area that scars their children. ©Disney Looking closely at the concept art, it seems there’s an intense roller coaster attraction in the land, and it’s unknown yet what ages this attraction will be appropriate for. While we do know there will be two attractions in the area, it’s possible that while the land itself is kid-friendly (although kids who don’t do well with spooky things, for example if they don’t do well with Haunted Mansion, it may not be a good fit), the rides may be geared more toward older kids and adults. ©Disney However, since we’re still so early in the process, don’t let this concept art influence you too much! We’ve seen concept art change time and time again for multiple different Disney World attractions, so much so that sometimes the final product doesn’t look anything like the original art. It’s still entirely possible that this land will change shape as it begins to take form, but if you’re thinking of planning a trip soon and can only travel once every few years, there is an important decision to be made here. If you’ve got members of your family who will have no interest in the new land, then there’s little reason to hold off the trip until it’s done, but if you know you/your group will love it, then it may be a better choice to wait a few extra years. Whether or not Villains Land is meant for you and your family ultimately comes down to what your personal preferences are! You know your kid(s) and what they can handle better than anyone, so it’ll be important to gauge how your child will feel — what’s great for one child may be too much for another!
