Disney4me
There’s been a big shift at Magic Kingdom and it has us thinking 5 years ahead. Magic Kingdom In case you missed it, there are currently no more Virtual Queues at Disney World. That’s right, TRON Lightcycle/ Run ended their virtual queue earlier last year, but now Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind have ended theirs. But, we could see the effects of this for a while — let us explain. Both Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had been using a virtual queue until February 25th, when both rides switched to using a standby line in addition to Lightning Lane. We knew this would affect the wait times so we went to see how firsthand — at one point, we saw Cosmic Rewind have a 170-minute wait. Crowds at Cosmic Rewind We want to note that ONLY Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was available during Early Entry. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is not currently available during Early Entry, but it may change in the future. So if you don’t want to wait in standby, you’ll want to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Guardians and try to snag Tiana’s Bayou as your tier 1 selection for Lightning Lane Multi Pass. The Takeaways from No More Virtual Queues at Disney World Tiana’s Bayou Adventure It had us wondering if this was the end of virtual queues in Magic Kingdom, at least for a while. We do have new attractions opening this summer with Villains — Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, although we think it is unlikely they will use a virtual queue system. However, we can’t forget that in the future Magic Kingdom has a huge expansion coming with 4 new rides. One attraction from the concept art appears to be for little racers while the other looks more grand racing over mountains. Could the larger ride use a virtual queue system? We could see this being a possibility, however, they could also make this a Single Pass or maybe a new Tier 1 attraction for Multi-Pass. ©Disney Of course, we cannot forget the highly anticipated Villains Land coming! Disney shared, “The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions.” We have speculated that one of these attractions could be a roller coaster based on the concept art, however, we don’t have confirmed details of these rides. The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions. If it is a roller coaster, this would be a main attraction at Magic Kingdom. We could see this becoming a Single Pass Lightning Lane or possibly a return of the Virtual Queue system. If this is a roller coaster, even similar to TRON, Disney fans could make it a very popular ride with long waits. It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the future and what attractions are currently Single Pass or Tier 1 change. ©Disney We have A LOT to look forward to and we will be here to report any new updates as things change.
