Menu

Over at the Primavera Kitchen booth, you’ll find a variety of available items. And, all the food this year is NEW!

Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!

Eats

First up, we grabbed the new Insalata Arlecchino — Grape tomato, seasonal melon, mozzarella ciliegine, and balsamic dressing for $7.50.

To us, this was a very minimalist appetizer. It felt kind of rushed, like someone had just chopped up melon, mozzarella, and cherry tomatoes, sprinkled it with balsamic, and called it a day. Our biggest complaint is that the melon overpowered everything, and the flavors did not really complement each other. This dish was just fine.

Next, we grabbed the new Primavera Cacio Pepe e Gamberi made with Penne, shrimp, zucchini, peas, asparagus, and creamy cacio pepe sauce for $8.75.

This is a pretty basic dish since it is essentially just cheese, pepper, and shrimp. This automatically got bonus points from us because the tails of the shrimp were already cut off. Our big problem with this dish is that there was not enough sauce; it was just sprinkled on top, which left us with unseasoned and bland al dente penne and baby shrimp. Again, not bad, just fine.

For dessert, we got the Chocolate Dirt Cannoli, which is made with a Cannoli shell and cookies and cream cannoli cream filling, for $5.50.

This cannoli is basically just a cookies-and-cream cannoli. We were a bit confused why this had to have the dirt and worms. We get that it is the Flower and Garden Festival, but they are taking a dish that is inherently Italian and dressing it up. It just felt like they were doing too much. Other than that, it was great! The shell was tasty, and the filling was sweet and not too rich.

Drinks

In terms of drinks at this booth, we have two new options this year.

First up, you can get the Italian-inspired Blood Orange Margarita for $12.00.. It’s made with Tequila, triple sec, and blood orange liqueur.

If you like citrus, you will most likely enjoy this margarita. If you don’t like tequila, the good news is that this drink is very citrusy, so you can’t really taste it.

Italian-Inspired Blood Orange Margarita

You might prefer the Caprese Cocktail because this one has cheese! With Basil-infused vodka, balsamic-tomato juice, and fresh mozzarella, we were intrigued by this option, so we bought it for $16.00. To us, this tasted like drinking warm tomato juice; there was a deeper flavor profile, and it did not remind us of a Bloody Mary. There is no ice served with this, so it felt very heavy.

Last year, we also sampled the Peroni Pilsner. This year it was selling for $6.50/$11.00.

You’ll find some other beverage choices here as well.

OVERALL

While we did not think Italy was as bad as it usually is, the best way we can sum it up for this year’s Flower and Garden Festival is just fine. Nothing on the menu was too bad, but it also was not great. We will say that at least the dishes felt like they belonged in Italy, but if you don’t really care for Italian food, nothing was remarkable here, so you don’t need to go out of your way to try anything.

That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
