Disney4me
Believe it or not, being the editor of a digital media website that talks about Disney cupcakes all day is a full-time job. Actual photo of me talking about hot dogs for my job Trust me, I know how ridiculous it sounds, but being an editor for Disney Food Blog is, in fact, my actual, real job — and it’s one I take very seriously. Just kidding! While there is plenty of serious business to be had at Disney Food Blog behind the scenes, there is also plenty of fun and excitement — and I’m bringing you along for a day in the life of a DFB editor! DFB has been around for a while, which means that by now we’ve got a pretty good system down that keeps the ship afloat. I’m actually one of a few editors, and we all share duties while having individual responsibilities as well. But, one thing is always certain — no two days will ever look the same here at Disney Food Blog. You never know when breaking news might pop up (or when Disney will announce the cupcake to end all cupcakes). Cinderella Castle On a typical day when I’m running things, I’ll wake up bright and early to check for any news that may have popped up overnight that we need to cover before making sure our writers have enough assignments to keep them busy for the day. And, while you might think that eventually there couldn’t possibly be any more Disney or theme park and travel news, we still haven’t run out yet! Animal Kingdom Ultimately, my day mostly consists of editing and publishing posts on the sites, along with keeping an eye on any potential news that might pop up. There are also lots of boring tasks on my daily to-do list, like coming up with exciting topics and titles to write about, along with checking to see how previous posts have done on the site. Oh, and meetings. I’ve got plenty of meetings! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Even though no two days are alike, I can pretty much always count on some sort of news popping up throughout the day, whether it’s Disney, Universal, or other travel and theme park topics we cover here on DFB. Luckily, I’m part of a fabulous team that can handle anything that might come up when it does. There are a lot of moving parts here at DFB, with multiple different teams and departments. Part of my job as an editor involves communicating with each department to make sure everyone is on the same page across the DFB brand as a whole. EPCOT We have reporters in the parks every day as well, which means I’m also keeping tabs on the information that they’re sending in case it’s newsworthy. If breaking news does pop up, I’ll make sure we have all the info we need before assigning our writers to get the news out there. And, since you’re reading this, you’ve probably realized that I still do quite a bit of writing for Disney Food Blog too! I started out as a writer and still enjoy that side of things, but being an editor definitely keeps things interesting.
