We learned that Cars expansion with two new rides is coming to Magic Kingdom, along with a new Villains land. We learned more about Pueblo Esperanza, the land that will be taking over DinoLand, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We also learned that the Muppets are moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land, which will be taking over Muppets Coutryard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In Disneyland, Avengers Campus is getting two new rides. Well, this weekend, Disney just dropped more announcements about these expansions — AND MORE.

This weekend, the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference kicked off, and during the conference, Disney dropped some HUGE news about Disney World and Disneyland. The annual festival, held in Austin, TX, celebrates the latest in film, music, interactive media, and more. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro joined Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman on stage at The Future of World-Building panel to talk about some of Disney’s latest projects.

The Falcon will get this ALL NEW mission on May 22nd, 2026.

Cars Expansion in Magic Kingdom

Disney also released a sneak peek at one of the new Cars rides coming to Magic Kingdom. This ride “will take guests on an off-road rally race as you race over rocky terrain, ascend to mountain peaks, and dodge geysers.” Disney posted some of the testing Imagineers are doing on the track for the ride, and it looks like FUN!

This ride will be taking over Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America in Magic Kingdom, but the testing is being done in a “controlled environment.” How mysterious!

New Monsters, Inc. Coaster

When Disney announced the new Monsters, Inc. land coming to Hollywood Studios, it also announced a new ride, based on the infamous doors scene in the movie. This will be the first suspended coaster and vertical lift in a Disney Park. Disney revealed a sneak peek at the ride through a computer model, and it looks SO COOL.

Excuse us, THIS IS AMAZING. We are also SCREAMING in anticipation.

Avengers Campus Expansion

Robert Downey Jr. took the stage at the SXSW presentation to talk about Stark Flight Lab, one of the new rides coming to Disneyland’s Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure. We also got a first look at how that ride is going to work. Downey Jr. will also be reprising his role as Tony Stark for the ride.

The ride includes a massive robot arm that will reach down and grab your pod and lift you off the track. Then you’ll make high-speed maneuvers inspired by Iron Man. WOW.
