While we are still waiting for more details on the timeline for this new area that will replace Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, it is always cool to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a new area.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

Disney Parks just shared a fun video on their Instagram of Imagineers testing for the new Cars attraction coming to Magic Kingdom. At the beginning of the process, Imagineers traveled to Arizona to take a ride in some actual off-road vehicles for inspiration.

After returning to Florida, Imagineers took the next step and worked with a motocross company to build a dirt track. The dirt track allows Imagineers to start testing out elements and gather data on how it feels to drive on varying terrain. We got a closer look at this testing in the Instagram video recently posted by Disney Parks.

The dirt track is located in Florida and provides a controlled environment to carry out various tests. Imagineers are using the dirt track to recreate elements of actual off-roading and incorporating those elements to tell a story. They are trying to make every bump, turn, and movement as fun as possible.

We are seeing a lot of bumps in our future at this new Cars attraction! However, it is precisely what Disney promised when they first announced this new area. During the announcement, they said we would race through mountains on wild terrain while dodging geysers and splashing through mud holes.

In addition to getting a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the track, we also got a first look at the ride vehicles for this new attraction. Each ride vehicle will have its own personality, along with its own name and number.

But don’t worry, if lots of bumps and uneven terrain isn’t your idea of a fun time, there will also be another attraction in the new Cars area. This attraction will be geared toward “smaller racers” but will still be lots of fun for the whole family!
