The plane in question was American Airlines Flight 1006, which was en route to Dallas-Fort Worth from Colorado Springs. The plane was carrying 172 passengers plus six crew members when it diverted to Denver after “engine vibrations” were reported by the crew. Just before landing, the pilot notified Denver’s air traffic controllers that the plane had engine issues, but that it was not an emergency, per CNN. ©American Airlines After the plane landed in Denver and was taxiing to the gate, one of the engines caught fire. Passengers were evacuated via the slide, while others were evacuated to the wing. There were no serious injuries, although 12 passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
