Disney4me Posted March 20 Report Share Posted March 20 Southwest Airlines recently announced a ton of changes to its operations, including getting rid of its controversial open boarding process in exchange for assigned seating, offering premium seating options, and changing its rewards program. Let’s go somewhere! Following Southwest’s announcement that it would be getting rid of its “bags fly free” policy, the feedback has been… unpleasant, to say the least. And now, Frontier Airlines is throwing shade at Southwest by offering free bags on select flights. Frontier Airlines has announced that it’ll fly your bags for free on select flights — to be your “rebound” if you’ve been burned by the end of Southwest’s policy. But, this doesn’t apply to all flights — so here’s what you need to know. ©Frontier Airlines From now through August 18th, when you book a nonstop flight with an Economy Bundle, you’ll get one free carry-on bag, free seat selection, and free flight changes. If you want to earn a free checked bag, your travel dates must be between May 28th and August 18th, and you can use the promo code FREEBAG. Frontier Airlines You’re going to want to hurry, though, as this offer is only available on bookings completed by Monday, March 24th. In a press release, Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said, “Some airlines are walking away from what travelers love, but we’re running towards it. Think of this as the ultimate ‘divorce your old airline’ deal. If travelers show us the love, we’ll make these perks permanent.” Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport He’s likely referring to Southwest, who recently announced it was abandoning what made it stand out from other airlines and saying goodbye to its decades-long policy of free checked bags. This change came shortly after Southwest announced that it would get rid of its open seating policy and switch to assigned seats. This means that beginning May 28th, 2025, Southwest will start charging flyers for their first and second bag (they always have charged for third and fourth bags). Frontier Airlines When the rule changes, only Rapid Rewards A-List Preferred Members and customers traveling on Business Select fares will receive TWO free checked bags. A-list Members and other select customers will receive ONE free checked bag.
