So when we found out about this Lightning Lane hack, I knew we had to share it, even if it was against my editor’s wishes. But she’s not here, so if you promise not to tell her, I will let you in on this BIG news. There’s a LOT to learn about Disney’s premium skip-the-ride-line service. So much so that we’ve created a completely detailed (and completely FREE) Lightning Lane guide to help keep it all organized and easy for you to keep track of. So what’s the scoop? There is a 3-hour grace period where you can scan into your Lightning Lanes EVEN if it’s already way past your return time window. Of course, we didn’t want to tell you about this secret before having tested it out ourselves first so we had a few of our DFB reporters test this one by purposely being late for their Lightning Lane return window. They learned that the maximum amount of time they were able to scan in and still get the “green light” of approval was 2 hours AFTER their Lightning Lane return window was supposed to have ended. Lightning Lane at Peter Pan’s Flight Next time when your Disney World app gives you a one-hour return window, just remember it’s more like a three-hour return window. In the past with Genie+, the grace period was only 15 minutes, so this 3-hour window was a BIG shock to us and we are not mad about this. Now, Disney could change this rule at any time, so we don’t suggest relying on it unless you really have to. For example, if your dining reservation runs later than intended, you get stuck in a line longer than anticipated, etc. Lightning Lane It’s nice to know that you’ve got a safety net to fall back on if you’re running behind schedule.
