Disney4me
Okay, so we have our favorite Disney World restaurants, and we often talk about them. We’ll forever sing the praises of Homecomin‘ and Wine Bar George, and we’ll tell you how underrated we think Skipper Canteen and eet by Maneet Chauhan are if you ask. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground closed for Hurricane Milton However, we also let you know when a restaurant just isn’t…well, all that. Now, we’ve had some disappointing meals in Disney World before, but what we just had recently left us feeling outright upset. So we’re going to warn you about this restaurant so you don’t make the mistake we made by eating there. This most recent dining “experience” took us to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. We stopped by the Meadow Snack Bar, which is a quick-service spot at the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool. Meadow Snack Bar The menu here is pretty simple with hotdogs, salads, sandwiches, and snacks, but we picked up a meal that sounded promising, the Chicken Sandwich with Blueberry Barbecue Sauce and Kale Slaw for $11.79. It’s served with chips. First up, the blueberry was non-existent for us — we couldn’t taste it AT ALL. But that’s not all we didn’t taste. This chicken was BLAND and lacked any kind of seasoning. Also, the sandwich was served COLD? Chicken Sandwich The kale was fresh and crunchy, but again, there was just no flavor to this sandwich at all. And that made us sad because there was a huge potential with that blueberry barbecue sauce — it should’ve had a whole sweet and savory thing going on. Anyway, to quote our reporter, “It was very disappointing, and I was upset.” It was disappointing Okay, so that’s strike one against this snack spot. However, we had better luck with the Banana Pudding for $5.79. It’s tasty, and although we were concerned it was pre-packaged, it tasted homemade. There were layers of soggy vanilla wafers (soggy in that good way you like in a banana pudding, though) and whipped cream. Banana pudding It tasted fresh and was really good. However, we wouldn’t make the trek out to Fort Wilderness just to get it. But if you find yourself here, that’s a solid bet (just skip the sandwich). Stay tuned to DFB for more reviews.
