Wow! We bet you didn’t know there was a secret warehouse filled with all Disney World attractions in one place!

Disney just released behind-the-scenes photos of Central Shops, a Disney Adult’s playground, and you’ll want to buckle up and pull on that yellow tab when you see these fun details.

Disney Vacation Planner

Central Shops is where parts of Disney World attractions come in for check-ups, and the team of over 400 Cast Members works on repairing and maintaining the rides.

Attraction pieces from all sorts of rides at Disney World are being worked on simultaneously, and they’re all hosted in this building. Imagine seeing Doom Buggies from The Haunted Mansion and then turning a corner and seeing Space Mountain vehicles? We could spend days here!

To ensure the rides are in the best condition for guests worldwide to enjoy, roller coaster vehicles are on a meter-based program. After a vehicle runs a specific amount of time on the track, it comes in for inspection and maintenance. Then, the coaster is brought in and ripped down into tiny pieces, making sure each piece is safe.

Other pieces have scheduled maintenance, like the teacups at Magic Kingdom. They have “long-standing appointments,” and after they undergo maintenance and inspection, they return to spinning families in Fantasyland.

Disney uses special tools for quality assurance, including an X-ray machine that checks for rotting wood. Drones are used to reach those hard-to-reach places, and the Quality Assurance Team is always looking at bringing more technology in to make their jobs easier and rides even safer.

While they are working on bringing in technology, they also aren’t forgetting their original roots and use a lot of timeless hand-crafted artistry. Disney says there are “traditional artists and craftspeople like sculptors, painters, and woodworkers [that] collaborate here every day to create and maintain ride scenery, props, and specific costuming elements.”

For some ride elements, like the baby elephant from the Jungle Cruise, the fuzz on his trunk is placed one at a time by hand. All of these details help bring it to life!
