Atmosphere

You’ll find Ale & Compass Lounge located just off the lobby of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. This is just one part of the Ale & Compass dining concept at the Yacht Club, which also includes The Market at Ale & Compass and the Ale & Compass Restaurant.

Ale & Compass Lounge

It’s an ideal spot to relax with a nightcap while winding down for the evening or to grab a bite or two from their substantial appetizer menu. Whether you’re looking for a drink, a quick bite to eat, or just a place to sit and relax — Ale & Compass Lounge is a great option!

Cozy atmosphere

But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!

Menu

On the menu at Ale & Compass Lounge, you’ll find original and classic cocktails, beer, wine, plus New England-inspired appetizers and dishes.

There’s also a selection of non-alcoholic drinks on the menu here, as well as a full bar so you can order whatever your heart desires.

Some eats

And now, onto the main event — the food!

Eats

We kicked things off with bread, of course! The Parker House Rolls and Spreads will run you $14 and comes with Bacon Jam, Pub Cheese, and Citrus Butter.

The rolls were super fluffy with a nice crust on top. They were sprinkled with flaky sea salt and brushed with butter on top — which we just added more to. The citrus butter had a really nice orange flavor to it, but wasn’t too tangy where it felt like a weird choice, and the sea salt on top of the butter made this a solid sweet and salty bite.

The bacon jam was the STAR!! It was sweet, and had a bit of a caramelized onion flavor — and we could have eaten this with a spoon. If you’re picky about texture you might not love the jammy and chunky bacon texture, but we loved it.

The pub cheese was good but not mind-blowing compared to the other dips offered here. It was fluffy and cheesy as a good pub cheese should be, but it also tasted like something you could get at the grocery store.

Next up, we grabbed the Truffle Fries for $8. These are served with Roasted Shallot Mayonnaise and ketchup.

There was a really solid mix of crispy and floppy fries which we appreciated. The parmesan cheese sprinkled on top is the perfect amount to get some with each fry. The truffle flavor is present but not overpowering, which sometimes happens with these fries. The roasted shallot mayonnaise is the star of the show, though! It was a delicious caramelized onion-tasting bite and the sweetness compliments the truffle flavor perfectly. These are also served with ketchup but who wants that when you have a roasted shallot mayonnaise right next to it?

Truffle Fries

The Clams Casino are made with Bacon, Peppers, White Wine Herbed Butter, and Brioche, and you can get them for $16.

These were delish! They didn’t have a strong seafood flavor, the predominant flavor we tasted was red bell pepper for a nice bite. The saltiness of the bacon made these an addicting bite. They go perfectly with the cocktails in that “salty bite plus a drink” way like how peanuts at a dive bar pair well with a beer. The bread on top made us think it would be crispier like a crouton, but it was surprisingly light and fluffy inside.

We also tried the Seasonal Market Flatbread for $17.

This was an interesting one! The cheese on the flatbread is a tiny bit funky but nowhere near something like a blue cheese level of funk — it was a strong Gruyère. It played really well with the sweet caramelized onions which are underneath the cheese and act almost like a sauce. The beef was tender and easy to bite through, and it kind of reminded us of when you get a Philly cheesesteak pizza — it had that shaved beef situation going on. The crust wasn’t very crispy on the bottom but it wasn’t soggy either. It had a great char on the bottom but it didn’t have the same crunch as we would expect given the color of the crust. But, it was soft and pillowy and we had no complaints about the texture at all!

Seasonal Flatbread

And, to round things out, we also picked up the Crispy Wings for $15. These are tossed in House-made Buffalo Sauce, Blue Cheese Crumbles, and Garlic-Peppercorn Sauce.

We really enjoyed these! The dish came with both flats and drums, and the chicken was super tender. The wings were indeed crispy and the buffalo sauce was definitely on the mild side — maybe a 4/10 spice level! The blue cheese crumbles mellowed out the buffalo well, and the garlic peppercorn sauce added a nice “kick” back to the dish that wasn’t there from the buffalo sauce. The blue cheese and the garlic sauces were on top of the wings, not on the side like we expected, but that didn’t impact the dish in any way.

Drinks

To drink, we grabbed the Pineapple Mule for $17.50. This is made with Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey, Hella Cocktail Co. Ginger Bitters, Pineapple Juice, Ginger Beer, and Mint.

This was super light and refreshing! The pineapple isn’t too sweet, and it goes really well with the ginger beer. The ginger flavor isn’t too overpowering (which sometimes happens with mules) and the mint is a super subtle aftertaste that really adds to the refreshing flavor of this drink! We would definitely order this one again.

Next up, we tried the Just Peachy for $15.50. This comes with Cîroc Peach Vodka, Aperol, Peychaud’s Bitters, Peach, and Blood Orange.

This baby is dangerous — holy smokes! It tasted like juice. It reminded us of a boozy tropical punch — like the kind you’d have as a kid that would dye your tongue red — but this is the adult version. It’s very sweet so if a sweet drink isn’t your thing, you’d probably be better off with another cocktail option. But if you don’t love the taste of alcohol and like a fruity drink that goes down (maybe TOO) easily, this is the one!

Just Peachy

Finally, we tried the Strawberry Hibiscus No-Jito for $5.99. It’s made with Flavors of Strawberry and Hibiscus, Lime Juice, and Mint topped with Soda Water.

We were surprised by how much we liked this! We think it would be the perfect thing to order that isn’t just juice like most mocktails. It’s not too sweet — it tastes like it was maybe made with soda water as opposed to Sprite. You don’t get too strong of a mint flavor but it is present in the drink. It tastes more botanical than it does minty — and was not giving toothpaste at all. It’s a great light refreshing citrusy drink that we would totally get again!
