Headed to Disney World Next Week? Here’s What Experts Are Warning (and What You Should Pack)

Planning a trip to Disney World? Get ready — not just for magic, but for a little bit of classic Florida chaos in the skies.

For the next two weeks, the Florida weather is throwing out a little bit of everything: warm sunshine, surprise thunderstorms, and temps creeping up into the 90s. Here’s a look at what you need to pack to stay prepared for whatever your day at the most magical place on earth may entail.

If you’re heading to Disney World this week, you might be wondering, “Do I pack for sunshine or storms?” The answer? Both. Welcome to Florida — where the weather likes to change its mind more than we do inside the Main Street Confectionary (A candy apple? No. A cereal treat? No. A custom popcorn mix?? It just all looks too good!)

Florida is doing what Florida does best in the upcoming weeks: keeping things interesting. We’ve got a mix of warm, humid air and a front stirring things up — think possible storms and pop-up afternoon downpours. The good news? The worst of it is expected to stay scattered. But thunderstorms can still pop up in the afternoons, thanks to the classic sea breeze effect (basically warm land + cooler ocean = surprise storms).

And get this — temperatures are climbing. We’re talking 90 degrees by midweek, according to ClickOrlando! Yup, it’s extreme pool weather. But don’t get too comfy; a cool-down is on the horizon for mid-April. Nothing too dramatic (you’ll still need sunscreen), but maybe not every day will feel like summer. Experts are warning that the weather is going to be all over the place this month, per ClickOrlando.

What to pack for your upcoming Disney World trip:

When It’s Hot:

  • Lightweight clothes (cotton, linen, anything breathable)
  • A hat or visor for shade on the go
  • Sunglasses and SPF (Florida sun is not shy)
  • Water bottle — hydration = key to surviving long park days

When It Storms:

  • A poncho or mini umbrella (because sudden downpours love prime parade time)
  • Quick-dry or waterproof shoes
  • Extra socks or a dry shirt in your park bag

When It (Briefly) Cools Down:

  • Light jacket or hoodie, especially for early mornings or evenings
