Atmosphere

When you step inside Sci-Fi Dine-In, day automatically turns to nighttime as you step into a drive-in movie parking lot.

Sci-Fi Dine-In

There are various tables where you can sit, including car tables with bench seating, car tables with chairs, and picnic tables towards the back of the lot. Depending on your party size, you may share your car with other diners.

While you dine, cartoons and movie trailers play. Sci-Fi Dine-In is super immersive, and if you are looking for a place to beat the heat, Sci-Fi is it because, in our experience, it is pretty chilly!

Sit back and watch as you dine!

But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!

Menu

The menu here mimics the 1950s era in which the restaurant is set and serves American favorites like milkshakes, burgers, and fries. From time to time, the menu gets an update, and that is why we had to check this spot out again to try all the new menu items!

The Menu

There are also alcoholic drink options on the menu, including wine and beer.

Drinks

Of course, no meal is finished without dessert!

And now, onto the main event — the food!

Eats

First up, we grabbed the new Feature Film Burger. This burger rotates out a few times a year, so make sure to ask your server for the current special. When we visited the Feature Film Burger was their signature blend of beef topped with sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, and house-made sauerkraut served on a pretzel bun for $26. We got ours served with a side of fries.

Feature Film Burger

This burger was crispy, and it was kind of burnt. We really enjoyed the toppings, as the corned beef was super thin and tender. The sauerkraut added a pleasant acidity taste, and if you love sauerkraut, you will be wishing there was more! The Thousand Island-like sauce brought everything together. Our only complaint is that we hoped that the pretzel bun would be a bit fluffier.

We loved this!

We then tried the Cyborg-er for $26. This burger featured a signature blend of beef topped with griddled pastrami and pepper jack, lettuce, and heirloom tomato drizzled with house-made Carolina mustard sauce.

Cyborg-er

For us, this was kinda just meh. This burger is thick! The pastrami was okay and had a bit of a smokey flavor. The heirloom tomato tasted like it was not ripe, and you could hardly taste the mustard sauce.  While the Feature Film Burger was better, we still enjoyed this.

It is a big burger!

To finish out our entree portion of the meal, we also tried the Fried Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich for $22. This sandwich has fried chicken thigh topped with ham and melted Swiss cheese on a bed of arugula with our signature maple dijon served on a brioche bun.

Fried Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich

Sadly, the chicken was pretty bland. It had an odd taste that we were not a fan of. There were not enough toppings to even make it taste like a Cordon Bleu Sandwich, and the sauce was pretty much just a honey mustard sauce. We also wish the cheese was more melty. Out of the three, this ranks last on our list.

This was not the best.

To round out our meal and time at Sci-Fi Dine-In, we got a brand-new dessert! The Cerulean Moon is $9.50 and features a chocolate mousse dome with strawberry filling on a graham cracker tart with a hibiscus sponge, green space dust, and chocolate-caramel sauce.

Cerulean Moon

We really like this dessert! The chocolate mousse was thick and smooth and had a fantastic chocolate flavor. It was a bit dense, so if you were hoping for a fluffier mousse dessert, this might leave you a bit disappointed. Towards the bottom of the dome, there is a strawberry filling that had a nice, fresh strawberry taste. As for the hibiscus sponge cake, it did not taste flower-y and instead just tasted like plain cake. As for the space dust, we were not too sure of what it was as it was just like crispy green flakes.

This dessert is so bright!

Nosh or Not

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You want to dine in a cool atmosphere. The themeing here is heavy, and you are really immersed as soon as you step inside. It can be a bit jarring when you leave, and it is light outside.
  • You want to eat American classics. While the menu might not be super big, picky eaters should be able to find something they would like.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You don’t want to share a table. If you want to eat at a car table as have a party of two or four, the odds are that you can expect some extra company in your car, as cars can sit up to six, two by two.
  • You want a quick dining experience. The service here can be a bit slow. If you are looking for a faster meal, you may want to avoid a table service meal like this one and instead dine at a quick service location.
  • You want a more adventurous meal. While the new items we tried were a bit out there, at the end of the day, it is still pretty much only burgers and sandwiches, which can be a bit boring.

Overall

We were not super blown away with these new menu additions, and they would not be the reason we would return in the future. Overall, our favorite items were the Feature Film Burger and the Cerulean Moon. We aren’t in a rush to come back to Sci-Fi Dine-In, but it is still a super fun and immersive place to eat at!
