Disney4me
Summer is a popular time for guests to visit Disney World and this year will be no different. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Some big things are happening this summer with the new Spaceship Earth lounge, GEO-82, opening. We will also see a lot changing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the Muppets courtyard closing and two new shows opening. So, if you are planning a trip to see all of the new things this summer, there is one date you may want to avoid. “The Voyage of the Little Mermaid” has been closed since 2020, and “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” is the NEW attraction that will replace it. The show will feature live actors, puppets, digital animation, and even some live motion capture integrated together to fully replicate the underwater setting. Some characters might even feature a mix of all of these styles. ©Disney The show is being re-told almost entirely from Ariel’s point of view. Even the set and stage are “inspired by the way a teenager would decorate their walls.” The show will feature two Ariel-centric songs that weren’t in the original show — “Daughters of Triton” and “Kiss the Girl.” The show opens on May 27th! The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will also be opening on May 27th. In this show, the Magic Mirror summons some of your favorite Disney Villains who will break through the glass and explain why we’ve misunderstood them. While you will get to see some classic Disney Villains up on stage, like Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent, there will be other villains that do not get much recognition in the parks. ©Disney The two shows opening on the exact same day will likely draw large crowds to Hollywood Studios on May 27th. Even if you aren’t interested in the new shows, the crowds for those will also be visiting the rest of the park while there, likely causing higher wait times. We recommend waiting a few weeks for the hype to slow down around the shows before visiting (if you have a choice). If your trip is already booked, you may just want to plan to visit a different park on May 27th. Then keep an eye on wait time and hop over to Studios if things aren’t too hectic!
