REVIEW: Is Nine Dragons in EPCOT Better Than Your Local Chinese Restaurant? We Found Out

Recommended Posts

When you’re dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Sometimes you want something quick and easy, but other times, you might feel like splurging on a table service meal, and thankfully, Disney has both options!

Atmosphere

This is a darker, quiet restaurant, so if you’re looking for a spot that will help you get away from the crowds, this is a great restaurant to choose. We also adore the ambiance of the space and the decoration choices, as we feel they really enhance the space and give it a more elegant feel.

However, if you prefer to have a lot of lighting while you eat, this may not be the restaurant for you. While this spot feels elegant thanks to those decorations, you won’t feel out of place in your theme park attire, which is a bonus in our book as well.

It’s a little dark in here!

But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!

Menu

The menu is relatively similar to what you’ll find at your local Chinese restaurant back home, but with higher prices, which is often why many people aren’t a fan of this spot. But is the cuisine a step up from your favorite restaurant in your hometown? That’s what we’re here to find out.

Menu

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t worry — there are a few desserts on the menu as well for you to enjoy.

And now, onto the main event — the food!

Eats

We decided to grab the Sichuan Shui Zhu Beef for $35. This is Bistro beef, white mushroom, baby corn, wide glass noodles, Sichuan chili oil broth, and while we balked at the price tag at first, this was a HUGE serving!

Sichuan Shui Zhu Beef

It came with a side of white rice, and what we loved most about this dish was the broth! There certainly is some spice to this dish, but it’s not intense enough that we had to take multiple breaks while eating. However, if you’re spice adverse, this dish will likely be difficult and may not be up your alley.

Just look at it!

The beef was delicious — tender and chewy in the best way, and we adored how the soup was chock full of the ingredients. It certainly made it a very hearty dish, so it may not be the best choice on a hot day, but it will definitely fill you up.

Look at that broth!

However, this meal was so large that we had to get a to-go container to carry around with us the rest of the day. While that’s great for the price you pay, it does mean you’ve got to have it with you during the rest of your EPCOT day, and sometimes that’s not ideal.

Drinks

To drink, we grabbed ourselves the Lychee Martini for $15, which is made of Vodka, Lychee Puree, and Vermouth.

Lychee Martini

While this martini was pretty solid, it wasn’t the best Lychee Martini we’ve had in Disney World. Personally, we think the best one can be found over at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs. We felt there wasn’t as much lychee flavor here, and instead, it was masked by the sweetness from the Vermouth.

We would have loved just a little more lychee flavor!

Again, not bad by any means, but we would have loved to have more of that lychee flavor!

Nosh or Not

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You’re a big fan of Chinese food
  • You’re looking for a quiet restaurant to take a break from the crowds
  • You want plenty of leftovers!

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You’re looking for something more unique than the similar Chinese food you can find back at home
  • You don’t want to spend $30+ per person on your meal (in which case, quick service is likely a better fit!)
  • You’re not a fan of Chinese cuisine

Overall

This place may not have the best reputation, but overall, we think it’s a pretty solid spot that might be less expensive than other table service spots in EPCOT. But we do agree that it’s similar to what you’ll find back at home (likely for a cheaper price).

Nine Dragons

Just like many other spots in Disney World, we feel it’s very important to look at the menu before you decide where to dine on vacation so you know that you and your party will enjoy what’s being served. With so many choices in EPCOT, you’re bound to find something that will appease everyone on the trip — if that happens to be Nine Dragons, we think it’s a good option to consider!
