Disney4me
The U.S. airline industry has been going through some MAJOR shake-ups recently. We’re still reeling over Southwest Airlines switching to assigned seating and discontinuing their “Bags Fly Free” policy. ©American Airlines Other airlines are making changes, too. Last year, American Airlines announced big changes to its rewards program. But that’s not the only change coming to that particular airline. According to CNN, the company is also adding a perk, free Wi-Fi, to its flights soon, meaning that it will be the last of the major U.S. airlines to do so. Yes, American Airlines will soon offer free Wi-Fi on most of its flights beginning in January 2026. However, this free Wi-Fi will only be available to the airline’s loyalty program. Wi-Fi will be available on 90% of American’s fleet, which it states will have it offering internet on “more planes than any other domestic carrier.” ©American Airlines Only a few U.S.-based airlines still charge for Wi-Fi. American charged from $10 for a flight to $599 for an annual pass. American also announced that AT&T will sponsor the service, which will help offset the costs of installing it on planes with good equipment. Delta Airlines previously added free Wi-Fi for most of its flights in 2023, followed by United Airlines with some of its fleet ready for the service by the end of 2025.
