Whether we want it to or not, time does not stand still at Disneyland. In fact, the resort is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year! As time changes at “The Happiest Place on Earth”, so too do the rules and regulations.

If it’s been a minute since your last Disneyland visit, there are 3 rules you need to be ready for before your next trip.

DAS Misuse Can Lead to Bans

In June 2024, changes came to Disneyland’s Disability Access Service (DAS). This service accommodates visitors and their families who have difficulty tolerating extended waits in a traditional queue (or line) environment for an attraction due to a disability.

Guests enrolled in the program can go to an attraction and request a return time. To enroll, guests have to do a virtual video meeting with a trained Cast Member who will then determine the appropriate service.

The Disney Parks made restrictions to limit how many guests can take advantage of the program, and additionally threatened severe action should the service be misused.

While not necessarily new, the fine print reads that falsifying information in order to qualify DAS can lead to lifetime bans and forfeiture of tickets and Magic Key passes.

Pin Trading Restrictions

Back in the day, you could trade pins all over the Disneyland Resort. That is no longer the case.

The Disneyland Guest Pin Trading Etiquette policy has limited pin trading to a dedicated location near Westward Ho Trading Company in Disneyland Park from park opening to 3 PM daily.

According to the rules, pin traders can only bring one pin trading bag measuring 14 by 12 by 6 inches, cannot use lights or signs, cannot use park benches to display pins (tables have been provided), and cannot trade pins for money, gifts, or vouchers. Pin trading via lanyards is still permitted throughout the parks.

No Consistent Virtual Queues

Since the pandemic, guests have gotten pretty used to virtual queuesThe Disneyland Resort, however, seems to be moving away from them (for the time being).

Virtual Queue Return

In 2024, we saw heavy virtual queue use for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Haunted Mansion, but both attractions now offer regular Lightning Lane access as well as standby options. Virtual queues are still popular shows like World of Color.

Disneyland seems to want to only use virtual queues for a short period of time (Tiana’s Bayou Adventure did not have a virtual queue for very long, for example), especially when an attraction’s demand is at an all-time high. As of this writing, all of the rides at the resort can be accessed via a standby line. However, keep in mind that this is all subject to change.
