Disney4me
Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary celebration is coming soon! The big party starts on May 16th and will run through the summer of 2026. We are beyond excited for the celebration! ©Disney Speaking of the big anniversary, we’ve got more important news. The Disneyland 70th Anniversary will be happening at the same time as ANOTHER event. We’re talking about runDisney — the Half Marathon event will be taking place in Anaheim in early 2026! But what about the other anticipated runDisney events? Well, Disney just shared an important update. Looking ahead at the runDisney event calendar, Disneyland Resort has two on the schedule. First, there’s the 2025 Halloween Half Marathon Weekend, which will take place from September 4th through the 7th. The theme for that race will be Disney villains, so be prepared! Then there will be another race happening at the start of 2026 — Disneyland’s “Celebrate Happy” Half Marathon Weekend, taking place from January 29th through to February 1st. ©runDisney Disneyland only has those two runs on the schedule, which is half of what Disney World has planned. There’s a reason Disneyland only has one race on the schedule, though. When you go to the runDisney website, you’ll see the following message: “Due to upcoming construction impacts, runDisney races at the Disneyland Resort will be placed on hiatus in 2026 after the conclusion of the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. We will continue to offer races at Walt Disney World Resort, as well as virtual offerings.” ©Disney This is obviously a big blow for runDisney fans, especially considering there may have been one more event during the big 70th Anniversary celebration! This actually has happened already before, as this is the second time runDisney has paused races at Disneyland due to construction. There was also a hiatus back in 2018. ©Disney We’re happy that we’ll still get to experience two more races, and that the one at the beginning of next year will still be taking place. The “Celebrate Happy” run looks like it’ll be a blast, as it focuses on different ways to celebrate what makes us happy! Essentially, it’ll be the Happiest Race on Earth at the Happiest Place on Earth. ©runDisney There are going to be races inspired by Joy from Inside Out, Sorcerer Mickey, “it’s a small world”, and Dumbo. There will also be a kids’ race themed to Stitch, and a yoga session inspired by Miss Piggy! ©Disney Disney has not confirmed when runDisney will return to Disneyland, nor has it specified how long the hiatus could potentially last. It’s a special fan-favorite event, and there’s something magical about it being held at the original park. We’ll keep an eye out for the construction updates as the year progresses and into next year! Be sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for all the latest news and updates.
