Atmosphere

Meteor Astropub is a counter-service restaurant for “beer enthusiasts, cocktail lovers, and burger connoisseurs,” and luckily, we’re all three.

Welcome!

This vibrant gastropub is a meteor-themed hangout covered in stars and planets. When you walk in, it feels like a grown-up version of a space-loving little kid, which gives us a strong sense of nostalgia while we’re in the theme park, making us feel like little kids again. Tables and booths fill the room, offering options to sit at a high-top table for those seeking a more gastropub vibe.

Amazing vibes

The bronze and teal accents brighten up the space, complemented by the large glass windows and open doors that bring in the sunshine and fresh air.

Big open windows

Now that we’re sitting in this gorgeous space, let’s take a look at the menu.

Menu

Here at Metero Astropub, you’ll find familiar comfort meals with a modern twist. From fish and chips with wasabi fries to a grilled cheese sandwich with goat cheese, there’s a variety of handheld dishes to pair with specialty beverages, making for a complete experience.

Come on in!

They offer cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks such as the Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine and mocktails. Universal hasn’t released the full menu online just yet, but we will update when they do!

Everything sounds so good, so let’s blast off to eat!

Eats

We started with the Astro Pub Burger for $16.99.

Astro Pub Burger

Made with Black Angus beef, American cheese, cherry pepper aioli, and garlic pickles on a potato roll, this is the classic cheeseburger kicked up about ten notches. The patty was thick, with beautiful melted cheese, and was cooked just how we like it, with a significant amount of juiciness. The cherry pepper aioli added a bit of punch of spice, but we didn’t find it too overwhelming.

So juicy

The steak fries were crispy but still fluffy in the middle, and we couldn’t help swiping off some of the extra sauce from the burger onto the fries. In the middle of a theme park day, sometimes a burger is what you need, and this burger could be just that.

Crispy fries!

Next, we dove into the Chicken and Waffles for $16.99.

Chicken and Waffles

What if we told you that you could get chicken, waffles, AND fries all on the same plate? Because, yeah, you totally can at Meteor Astropub. This dish is a crispy buttermilk chicken thigh topped with whisky bacon jam, spiced maple syrup, all on a liege waffle. The chicken was a bit dry, but that just means it soaks up the syrup better! After the syrup soaked into the top, it almost turned into a glaze. The heat was on the subtle side, so you could focus on the chicken.

The inside

The waffle was dry as well, which made it pair well with the chicken. While it might not be the best chicken and waffles we’ve ever had, if you’re looking for a filling meal that includes fries and syrup, this might be the dish for you. If you love dishes that blend sweet and savory flavors, grab these chicken and waffles.

Toppings

Now that we are filled up with burgers and chicken, let’s talk about what we had to drink.

Drinks

We grabbed the First Light Mocktail for $7 to see what it’s all about!

First Light Mocktail

Going to a gastropub-style restaurant when you’re not a huge drinker can be a bit overwhelming, but Meteor Astropub has non-alcoholic options to try. The First Light Mocktail is made with Monin blue raspberry syrup, Monin vanilla crème syrup, Blue Prism powder, Minute Maid blue raspberry, Sprite, and a sweet cream cold foam topped with a galactic sugar sprinkle.

So blue

Can we start by talking about how beautiful this is? It’s shimmering blue, and the foam makes it look like a real cocktail, so everyone can feel included. We might not call this an official mocktail, but rather a fancy soda, which we enjoy just as much. The blue raspberry flavor is upfront, with Sprite being the strongest. When we took a sip, we realized there were Pop Rocks on top, too!

Pop Rocks!

Nosh or Not

You need to head to Meteor Astropub if you…

  • Like a quiet but open space to take a break during your theme park day.
  • Want familiar flavors with a twist.
  • Enjoy meat-heavy dishes or dishes that play with sweet and savory.

You might want to skip and head somewhere else if you…

  • Want some of the more unique items Epic Universe has to offer.
  • Like a more themed experience to your favorite movies and characters.
  • Enjoy trying new dishes you might not have heard of before.

Overall

Our meal

Meteor Astropub is a solid restaurant that escapes the chaos of Epic Universe with comfort dishes taken to the next level. You’ve likely heard of every item on the menu, but after spending the day exploring a new theme park where you don’t even know where the bathrooms are, it’s nice to sit down and eat a meal you know you’ll enjoy. The items weren’t out of this world, but they were familiar and brought us back to Earth, reminding us that we’re still in a theme park and there is nothing wrong with having a cheeseburger.

We’re trying all the food at Epic Universe so you’re first day in the park can be as perfect as possible. Keep on following Disney Food Blog for the insider tips on the best theme park food.
