Disney4me
Mickey Beignets from the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square are always a special treat! That messy bag of powdered sugar Mickey shaped goodness is one of my favorite snacks to enjoy while visiting Disneyland.Mint Julep BarAnd for Halloween Time, The Mint Julep Bar has welcomed back Pumpkin Beignets! The beignets are sold in 3 or 6 piece bags and can be washed down with a Pumpkin Spice Latte. A perfect Fall treat!Pumpkin Beignets SignageI don’t know if the recipe has changed, but I feel like over the past few years, the beignets were not so pumpkin-y tasting. This year though, the pumpkin flavor was much more prevalent. I ordered a bag of 3 to share with a friend.3 Piece PleaseThe beignets are made fresh to order, so sometimes there is a bit of a wait. (They’re actually better when they’re fresh, fresh, fresh.) Don’t let the line scare you away, they are worth it!If you aren’t familiar with beignets, they’re a light and airy French Pastry. Similar to a donut but not as dense.Pumpkin BeignetsAfter taking a bite, I immediately noticed they were much more flavorful in the “pumpkin” department, they’re also more orange in color than last year.Cross SectionIn general, I think that I still prefer the regular beignets over any specialty flavors, but I do think these are delicious and definitely worth a try. I love the ambiance of the French Market, and sitting there people-watching while enjoying beignets is always worth my time!PRO TIP: To stay somewhat clean but still enjoy the extra powdered sugar dips in between bites, tear the top of your bag off so that the powdered sugar is more easily accessible. If you already do this, consider yourself a beignet pro!Pro-DippingThe Mint Julep Bar is also one of the spots where you can get the special Halloween Time Maleficent Sipper and the Jack Skellington Glow Cube. The sipper is $10.19 with a fountain beverage or $13.29 with the Raspberry Magnolia Lemonade, which I haven’t had the chance to try. The Maleficent Sipper is also available at Ship to Shore (across from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad), and at the Royal Street Veranda. In Disney California Adventure, you can find it at Award Wieners.Maleficent SipperThe Jack Skellington Glow Cube is a $4.00 add on to any drink.Jack Skellington Glow CubesHe’s pretty awesome, and you can take him home to use again and again!Have you tried pumpkin beignets at The Mint Julep Bar?
