Disney4me
We’re stopping by BoardWalk Bakery this morning to take in another unique breakfast option!Learn About:Boardwalk BakeryBoardwalk RestaurantsDisney World RestaurantsThe BoardWalk Bakery is pretty much the only counter-service stop on the BoardWalk that offers freshly made eats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as a bakery case full of ever-changing cupcakes and fan favorite standards. This place is my nemesis as a food news blogger, because there’s always something new debuting here and it’s hard to keep up! ;-DIn addition to the eats, this spot is also the refilling station for your Rapid Fill Mugs at the BoardWalk.OutsideBoardWalk Bakery SignBreakfast here has been somewhat pedestrian in the past, with a menu featuring some standard breakfast sandwiches and a daily quiche. (The cinnamon rolls are pretty legit, though!) But we were excited to try a dish that’s getting great reviews from our readers.Breakfast Waffle ConeBreakfast pastries like the Jersey Crumb Cake and the Brioche Pull Apart are often the choice for guests grabbing breakfast on their way to an early park fastpass. But recently, they’ve replaced their Breakfast Bread Bowl with a more portable Breakfast Waffle Cone.Menu — Click to EnlargeThe success of other “coned” eats in Disneyland and Disney World recently might have been the driver behind this new “all-in-one.”Bakery Case with Breakfast Options DisplayThe Waffle Cone itself is maple flavored, and the flavor obviously goes well with the Thick-Cut Bacon. While Cheese wasn’t listed as an ingredient on the menu, there is Cheddar Cheese mixed throughout the egg. I was pleasantly surprised, but if you’d prefer not to have it, be sure to mention that when you order.Waffle ConeAfter taste-testing, we confirmed that this is a good one for eating on the go. The cone is tall and wide enough to hold all the food without getting soft or soggy, and as long as you’re eating with a fork and not trying to do this one ice-cream-cone-style, you should be good to go.Waffle Cone — InsideThe sweet-salty mix of flavors worked in this dish. It really was like a full plate of breakfast all rolled into a portable, flavorful shell. The Breakfast Waffle Cone comes with a Fruit Cup of the side. The day I visited, it was a mix of fresh Blueberries and chunks of Pineapple. Nice to not have the standard melon, melon, melon, and sorry half-grape mix.Fruit CupThe price of $8.49 is on par with what you’ll pay for other counter-service full breakfasts. But I was wowed by the sheer amount of food here. When I questioned the cast member about it, she told me that there are five — five?! — eggs in each in cone. There was egg, cheese, and bacon until the very last bite. To be honest, it’s a lot to eat for one person, so there’s always the option to get more bang for your buck and share this one. But that does take a bit of the portability away.So there you have it. On the heels of reviewing the rather strange Pop-Tarts® Breakfast Sandwich, I was pretty happy with this new option. And now I’d love to hear your thoughts!
