On July 1st, the Disneyland Resort introduced a line of S’mores treats that are not to be missed. There are 4 fantastic new items that include a S’mores Marshmallow Wand, a S’mores Gourmet Caramel Apple, S’mores Bark, & a S’mores Rice Krispy Treat.Marceline’s in Downtown DisneyOn a recent trip to Downtown Disney, I visited Marceline’s and purchased one of each of the new S’mores Treats to take home for “research.”You Can’t Go Wrong with Marceline’s “Take Out!”Disneyland Diamond Celebration S’Mores TreatsLet’s start with the S’mores Mickey Rice Krispy Treat.S’mores Rice Krispy TreatWith all those gooey marshmallows on there, Mickey sort of loses his shape, but there IS a Rice Kripsy Treat under the chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker goodness.Although this was probably my least favorite item of the 4, it wasn’t bad by any means. I was quite impressed that the marshmallows were still soft and the graham crackers were crunchy! The Krispy Treat itself was a little on the flavorless side though. I actually prefer the pre-packaged Krispy Treats sold at the Disney Resorts. Overall, I’d say that this one was just OK. The toppings were great, but the combo just didn’t do it for me. For $6.49, I’ll pass next time.S’mores Rice Krispy Treat Cross SectionHowever, I’m happy to report that the S’mores Marchmallow Wand is delicious!Smores Marshmallow WandThis one was my favorite of the four new treats! The Smores Marshmallow wand is sort of like a Tigger Tail. Only better.The Marshmallow Wand consists of fresh marshmallows on a stick, dipped in caramel, coated with milk chocolate, rolled in graham cracker crumbs, then finished off with a milk chocolate drizzle. Unlike the Rice Krispy Treat, this one was much more reminiscent of “regular” campfire smores. It was a hit with everyone in my family. I would definitely get this treat again. The Smores Marshmallow Wand is $4.99 and worth every penny.S’mores Marshmallow Wand Cross SectionLet’s talk about the S’mores Bark… First of all, the packaging alone makes me happy. I want an entire roll of these Disneyland 60th stickers! A bag of S’mores Bark will set you back $9.99, but at 7 oz., it’s generously portioned and perfect for sharing (or not sharing).Smores Bark PackagingThe S’mores Bark was pretty darn good. A big hit in my household. Again, I was very surprised that the graham crackers were still crunchy. I thought for sure that they would have softened up a bit after being packaged and sitting on a shelf for a day. I loved that the marshmallows were lightly toasted and the milk chocolate was perfect as well. My only complaint about this one is that the ratio of chocolate to marshmallow and graham cracker was a little off. The chocolate is very thick, which isn’t a bad thing, but it seems like it needed just a little something extra to bring it to the next level. I think almonds would have been a perfect addition.Smores Bark Close UpI also really liked that the marshmallows were not only on top of the bark, but they were mixed in as well.S’mores Bark Cross SectionThe fourth new s’mores treat is the Gourmet S’mores Caramel Apple. I know people are always talking about the ridiculous price of Disney Gourmet Caramel Apples, and they aren’t cheap. $12.99 does sound a bit nuts for a caramel apple, but after watching the work that goes into them, I do understand (sort of) why they are so pricy.I usually justify my purchase because a) I’m using an annual pass with a 20% discount that brings it down to $10.39 & b) It’s a snack for a family of four; we each get two pieces, a perfect sampling size. Not to mention the fact that they are enormous and weigh a ton; lots of chocolate goes into making one of these!Gourmet S’mores Caramel AppleWhen I took this beast out of the package, I didn’t even know where to start! The sharp edges alone made it basically impossible to bite into. I would NOT recommend trying to eat this in the parks. To-go is the way to go. I had to break out the big guns to get into this one.Caution Sharp Objects (the apple and the knife)!!!After slicing up the S’mores Caramel Apple, I was sure glad I brought it home. It sliced nicely, but I really think it would be hard to enjoy straight from the stick.Gourmet S’mores Caramel Apple Cross SectionThe Granny Smith apple is dipped in caramel, then milk chocolate, rolled in toasted marshmallows, drizzled with more chocolate to get the graham crackers to stick, and to finish it off… it gets MORE chocolate drizzle! The marshmallows were toasted (a nice touch), the graham crackers were crunchy, and the tart Granny Smith Apple was the perfect accompaniment to the sweet toppings.Can you believe how thick this thing is???Annnnd… Since we’re talking S’mores. I’m including a little bonus item: the Milk Chocolate S’mores Square has been a Disneyland Resort staple for a while now.Milk Chocolate S’mores SquareWe’ve talked about these on the blog before, but since the Cast Member included one in my order when I said, “I’ll take one of each S’mores item!” I figured I may as well put it in this post, too.S’mores Squares are a great in-park treat. They are portable and delicious. Basically a hand held s’more minus the melty gooey mess (which I actually enjoy in the right setting). The S’mores square consists of a graham cracker layered with chocolate, followed by a thick creamy marshmallow, which is then entirely covered in chocolate. It’s $4.99, simple, and fantastic!S’mores Square Cross SectionOverallOverall, I love the S’mores Treats as an addition to the delicious offerings at the Disneyland Resort. To me, s’mores are the perfect summer treat and these bring back the campfire nostalgia in an easy to eat, no fire involved kind of way. I’d love to see them stick around, especially that Marshmallow Wand!S’mores Treats can be found in several locations throughout the Disneyland Resort. In addition to Marceline’s in Downtown Disney, you can find them at both Candy Palace & Pooh Corner in Disneyland as well as Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure. What are you waiting for???
