Disney4me
Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary is firmly underway. And it’s been pretty exciting to explore all the eats and drinks they’ve created to mark the celebration.Sleeping Beauty Castle decked out for the Diamond AnniversaryAfter spending a whirlwind kickoff weekend at Disneyland earlier this year, I still have stuff to share with you! And here’s the good news — we’ll be celebrating the 60th Anni for a whole year, so you have plenty of time to check these treats out for yourself! We’ve already reviewed the 60th Anniversary Mickey Mouse Cake Pop. Today, let’s take a closer look at a couple of drinks that mark the celebration — and see what makes them so special.Disneyland Diamond Anniversary DrinksEvery corner of both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure is celebrating the 60th Anniversary milestone. But I always make Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe one of my first stops. I love the pastries here, but today, I’m all about the drinks.Beverage Menu — Click to EnlargeThroughout Disneyland this year, you can get special diamond-shaped glow cubes to liven up your drinks. These are some of my favorite souvenirs because you can take them home and reuse them!Light Up Drink Diamond signHeather and I decided that we needed to try both special drinks — the Very Berry Diamond Tea and the Frozen Pomegranate Silver Sparkler. And the best part? We were the FIRST ones to try these during the kickoff — the 24-hour day! Yes, we made the cast members pose for a picture. ;-D You can see it on my instagram.Very Berry Diamond Tea with diamond shaped glow cube and a Frozen Pomegranate Silver SparklerLet’s take a look at these drinks individually. The tea is served “on the rocks” — over ice. It’s an even combo of tea and berry flavor. I’m not a huge iced tea fan, so the tea flavor was a little overwhelming for me; but it was refreshing.Very Berry Diamond Tea with diamond shaped glow cubeYou can’t really tell it in the bright Cali sunshine, but the Diamond Glow Cube imparts a rosy glow and makes the whole drink light up. It’s very effective, since the liquid isn’t frozen; the light diffuses nicely.Very Berry Diamond Tea with diamond shaped glow cubeThe Frozen Pomegranate Silver Sparkler, while very similar-looking at first glance, is a completely different experience. To begin, this one is frozen. So rather than being served over ice, it’s the consistency of a slushie.Frozen Pomegranate Silver SparklerIn addition, it comes topped with a substantial head of foam. The sour flavor of the foam is a good counterbalance to the sweet pomegranate.Frozen Pomegranate Silver SparklerWhile the density of both foam and frozen drink render the glow from the Diamond Cube a little less showy, it still looks pretty cool — and a bit otherworldly — peeping out from the surrounding fluff.Close up on Frozen Pomegranate Silver Sparkler — Up CloseWanna see that diamond up close? Here you go! See the little Mickeys that are imprinted all around the top? And don’t forget that you can set these to several different colors, or to rotate between several.Glow cube on Frozen Pomegranate Silver SparklerI liked them both, but I give a slight edge to the Pomegranate Silver Sparkler.Cheers to Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary! But you won’t go wrong with either one!Now I’d love to hear your opinion.
