Disney4me
It’s just six weeks away! We’re talking about the beginning of the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival!Circle Friday, September 25, because that’s the day that kicks off more than seven full weeks of delicious food and drink in Epcot. And because this is the Festival’s 20th Anniversary, we know that it’s going to be something extra special.Excitement is building as we look forward to all of the Culinary Demonstrations, Beverage and Mixology Seminars, and other fun Special Events. But mostly, I can’t wait to Dine and Drink Around the World at the Marketplace Booths! This year, in honor of the 20th Anniversary, the Festival also welcomes the Cast of The Chew, as they film a week’s worth of shows on location from the Festival, and host special events. But they’ve also been busy creating menus for two brand new Booths — Sustainable Chew and Chew Lab. The two booths will be located in an area called Next Eats Festival Area, which will be located in Epcot’s Future World, marking the first time Marketplace Booths have been located away from the World Showcase Promenade.Today, we’re going to take a first look at all of the dishes that these special booths will offer. Be sure to add them to your festival plans — I was actually really impressed with the eats here.Sustainable Chew Marketplace BoothSustainable Chew is all about just that — sustainably harvested food. The Sustainable Chew and Chew Lab Booths Will Expand the Marketplace Booths into FutureWorld This Year!2015 Sustainable Chew Marketplace Booth MenuPork Spareribs with Red Wine, Fennel, and Cheesy Mascarpone GritsRicotta and Zucchini Ravioli with Tomato SauceVanilla Panna Cotta with Fresh Figs and Pistachio BrittleFounders Spectra Trifecta (Chamomile Kolsch)Frozen Chew-tiniBeso Del Sol White SangriaI had the chance to try the Pork Spareribs with Cheesy Mascarpone Grits a few weeks ago, and it was impressive.Pork Spareribs with Red Wine and Fennel and Cheesy Mascarpone Grits featured at Sustainable ChewBut the winner for me — and for several colleagues at my table — was the Frozen Chew-tini, a combination of Crop Organic Meyer Lemon Vodka, V-8 Carrot Mango Juice, and Citrus Sour Mix.Frozen Chew-tiniIt’s super yum, and goes down WAY too smoothly!Chew Lab Marketplace BoothAre you a food geek who loves to learn about the science of food? (I’ll be requesting mine foam-less, though.)New York Strip, Parsnip Silk, Balsamic Glaze, and Arugula FoamBut hands down, my favorite dish that I’ve tried so far from Chew Lab is the Liquid Nitro Chocolate Almond Truffle with Warm Whiskey Caramel! A cross between chocolate candy and ice cream, it’s super fun. The mousse is flash-frozen in the liquid nitrogen — right before your eyes! Very cool.Liquid Nitro Chocolate Almond Truffle with Warm Whiskey CaramelThere are some interesting sips here as well. Fans of Mezcal, tequila’s smoky cousin, are sure to be impressed by the Smoking Hibiscus, which features Montelobos Mezcal Joven. I didn’t love this one, personally, though. Maybe I just don’t like Mezcal? But the cocktail really does “smoke,” so it’s an out-of-the-ordinary one to check out.The Smoking HibiscusStart Your Planning Today!
