Disney4me
IT’S OFFICIAL!!!After months of waiting, watching, and hoping, there is now confirmation from Disney that a Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant is indeed on its way to Disney World! The Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen is coming to Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland!Skipper Canteen Concept ArtHere’s what we know: offering “World Famous Jungle Cuisine,” the Skipper Canteen will feature several different dining rooms such as a Crew Mess Hall, and even a “once-hidden secret meeting room” of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. And if that Society rings a bell, that’s because it’s the very same group that — as the story goes — once frequented Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (opening in Downtown Disney this fall).Do You Think Any of the Specialties from the Crew Mess will Make It to the Skipper’s Canteen Menu??Best of all, Jungle Cruise Skippers will staff the restaurant! Anyone who loves, loves, LOVES the Jungle Cruise knows how the Skippers bring the attraction to life, and we imagine this will be no less the case at the Canteen!Jungle Cruise Eats? Sign Me UP!!!It has been rumored that the service style of the restaurant may function similar to Be Our Guest Restaurant, offering a Counter Service lunch by day and Table Service dinner in the evenings.Look for the Skipper Canteen to open its doors at the former site of the Adventureland Veranda restaurant (right next to the new location of Sunshine Tree Terrace) later this year! Are YOU excited to visit the Skipper Canteen when it opens?
