It’s almost September, but everyone knows that we’re still looking at summertime temps to continue in Florida — expanding well into October (at least). So you may find it good to know about some cold adult refreshers that have popped up in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in recent months!

The Cold Front

Let’s start on Commissary Lane at the ABC Commissary.

The Cold Front not only promises a relief from the heat, but it’s also well in keeping with Frozen Summer Fun (which won’t conclude until September 7th, so you’ve still got time a little time to catch it!).

If you’re thinking to yourself, “Hey, this blend of coconut rum, blue caracao, peach schnapps, sweet-and-sour and Sprite topped with lemon-lime foam seems awfully familiar,” then you’re correct ;) . It’s a near-duplicate of the Blue Daydream — one of the specialty drinks for Frozen Summer Fun, down to the souvenir glow cube.

The difference lies in the use of Coconut Rum for the Cold Front as opposed to Citrus Vodka in the Blue Daydream. So, if you’re in a sweeter mood, lean towards the Cold Front. Looking for more of a pucker? Go with the Blue Daydream!

The Claw

Now, here’s one we’ve been hoping to try for a while, and finally had the chance… we’re heading to Pizza Planet next.

Check out The Claw! (Get it, TS fans?! HA!)

It’s tequila, amaretto, triple sec, and sweet-and-sour topped with more of that lemon-lime foam, and it comes with a souvenir glow cube set to the hue of the Little Green Men (after you’ve finished the drink, it can be set to whatever color you choose, or a rainbow rotation).

Essentially, it’s a classic margarita made with amaretto to give it an Italian twist…since we are eating what is labeled as pizza here at the Planet. The nuttiness of the amaretto really comes through in the flavor and the lemon-lime foam gives it a different twist (but feel free to ask for it to be left off it foam isn’t your thing).

High Octane Refreshments Cocktails

Finally, we’re off to one of the more classic watering holes at the Studios, High Octane Refreshments.

We’re checking out the newer sips, but just remember they offer a full bar as well as the specialty drink menu. Also, SCORE to High Octane for being another place you can try the Schofferhofer Grapefruit Beer on draft.

You can find this delicious, refreshing beer at the Germany Hovels Stand in Epcot, too. Even non-beer-drinkers like this one.

Back to the cocktails! Starting with the new namesake drink, the High Octane.

It’s made with Tito’s Vodka, Bacardi Rum, Blue Caracao, Sprite, and sweet-and-sour (is anyone sensing a theme here?). Hendrick’s Gin completes the mix, which you’ll also find featured in the Citrus Thistle at the Scotland Booth this year during the Food and Wine Festival.

It’s a twist on a Long Island but with (surprise!) more sweet and sour flavor. But seriously, the vodka, rum, and gin work together to lend it some nice strength so it can live up to its name.

We’ve got one more for ya, thanks to the Cast Member sharing that this is one of her new favorites…

It’s the Tropical Splash, a beachy combination of Skyy Vodka, Midori and pineapple juice.

If you’re looking for one final wave to summer during your trip, this drink is it. The Midori gives it that nice, sweet melon punch while the pineapple juice lends the tropical vibe.

Even if these new drinks aren’t quite the newsmakers that, oh, I don’t know… STAR WARS LAND coming to the park at long last (!!!) is, it still remains very fun activity to sip your way around the Studios!

Which new drink will you be trying during your next visit to Hollywood Studios? Please let us know with a comment!
