Join us, fellow members of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, for a First Look at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar! We’ll be back on Monday with a FULL REVIEW!

Newly open in The Landing of what will become Disney Springs, the new HANGAR is the latest Downtown Disney HANGOUT! Then again, maybe “new” isn’t really the word for it…

You see, as the story goes, Jock Lindsey — a frequently trusted pilot for Indiana Jones — discovered this waterfront property in 1938 as he flew with Indiana over Florida on the hunt for the Fountain of Youth.

He returned to the area in the 1940s to make his home, setting up a small business — Jock Lindsey’s “Air Tours” — offering scenic plane tours of the state. And now we are left with the Hangar that he also used to host his friends in the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, of which Jock, too, was a member.

Then LET’S GO

INSIDE the Hangar!

Atmosphere

Oh, my… WHERE to begin?! Suffice it to say, the Hangar Bar might be giving Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto a run for its money with the insane — and frankly, awesome –amount of detail and design.

You know the age-old advice when it comes to Disney World: “Look up,” because you don’t want to miss an inch. You’ll want to heed it well here, since everywhere you look you’ll spot oodles upon oodles of adventurer paraphernalia including books, trophies and airplane gear, all looking as though it’s almost straight off the Indiana Jones movie sets.

Seriously… EVERY. INCH.

The sheer amount of props, gadgets, and aviation equipment is so much fun to check out that I honestly don’t even think you have to be a studied fan of the films to have a ton of fun. That said, there are PLENTY of props and nods from the stories for Indiana Jones fans to appreciate.

Stay tuned for our full review next week when we’ll go into more of the hidden props displayed throughout the Hangar!

Oh, wait… I almost forgot. You can sit down here ;). Both the inside and outside have a bar and seating area, offering a 150 seat capacity altogether. The large indoor bar is decorated with various maps and trinkets. Check out the glowing container filled with Reggie’s Revenge, one of the Hangar’s signature drinks!

Reggie’s Revenge? Just ask Jock and he’ll tell you: “Oh, that’s just my pet snake, Reggie.” Can you spot his cage?

Uh-oh. Seems like he’s gone missing! Maybe it’s safer to head outside…

The outdoor area is relaxed and comfortable, offering a more laid back atmosphere.

Staying true to the theme of the waterfront hangout, there is a view of Village Lake from every seat, including the nice-sized outdoor bar.

More covered seating is available on Jock Lindsey’s dry-docked boat, named after none other than his beloved pet.

And just when you think you’ve checked out every detail, you notice the cool coasters when you finally sit down for your drinks. They come straight from The Python Bar, one of Jock’s favorite spots.

Coasters will change out regularly and feature Jock's favorite watering holes

Keep an eye out, though! We hear from one of our Instagram followers that the coasters will change out, featuring more of Jock’s preferred watering holes. And speaking of watering holes…

Eats

Remember, we’ll have a full review for you of everything we sipped and ate on Monday. But we can’t resist giving you a quick glimpse today of a few of the items we tried!

The uniquely-themed specialty cocktails at the Hangar Bar include Reggie’s Revenge, featuring Florida Cane ‘Orlando Orange’ Vodka, midori, white cranberry juice, and fresh lime juice.

“Legend has it, archaeologists have been chasing this recipe for centuries…” The Bedtime Story is an eye-catching and zesty blend of Absolut Mandrin Vodka, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, hibiscus syrup, fresh lemon juice, and iced tea.

In case this drink isn’t dreamy enough for ya, it’s garnished with an actual hibiscus flower!

FYI — many of the souvenir drink glasses/vessels are still on order and haven’t arrived at the Hangar Bar yet. We don’t have word on when those will be in, but we’re hoping soon! In the meantime, many signature drinks will be served in these hurricane glasses.

Now, how about some eats? Yep, we’ve got those, too…

The Rolling Boulder Sliders are made up of three thick and spicy meatballs on top of shredded lettuce, drizzled with a spicy yogurt dressing.

If nothing else, you’ve gotta order it just to hear yourself say it (doing your best Harrison Ford impression, of course): the “Squid! Why’d It Have to Be Squid?” is a fried calamari flatbread with harissa spread and seasoned arugula.

And “no father or son can resist these” Dr. Elsa’s She-Deviled Eggs: beet juice-brined deviled eggs topped off with lump crab meat.

Tanis Tacos are filled with falafel (falafel tacos!) and shredded lettuce, all topped with a cucumber tomato salad.
