New to the Disneyland Resort this season are an adorably festive line of Dia de los Muertos Treats.

For the past few years, Zocalo Park in Frontierland has had a gorgeous display where you can participate in some fun activities and learn about the traditions of Dia de los Muertos.

This colorful area is most definitely worth a visit during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, bring a themed treat with you and you’ve got a perfect afternoon!

I purchased my Dia de los Muertos treats to-go at Marceline’s in Downtown Disney.  However they can also be found at Candy Palace and Pooh Corner in Disneyland as well as Trolley Treats over at Disney California Adventure.

The Mickey and Minnie “Sugar Skull” designs come in Cake Pops, Caramel Apples and also Crisped Rice Treats.  Let’s start with the Caramel Apples.

One of my favorite things to do in Downtown Disney is pass by the window at Marceline’s.  On this visit, they were actually making the Sugar Skull themed Mickey and Minnie Apples.  It always amazes me how easy these cast members make decorating the specialty apples look.  If that were me in there, it would be a mess!

The detail on these is really great.  Everything from the hearts on the ears, to the curled up smile.  I also watched them make the red sugar coated marshmallow flowers that are placed on Minnie’s ear.

The specialty apples come decorated as a traditional Dia de los Muertos “Sugar Skulls.”  Remove the colorful decor & marshmallow ears and these sort of remind me of the Jack Skellington Caramel Apples.  Here’s the Mickey Mouse version.

Minnie is similar in design; different sugar colors and she has a giant marshmallow flower on her ear.

The Granny Smith Apples are dipped in caramel and then white chocolate.

Let’s take a peek at the gorgeous Cake Pops now!

The cake pops come in either Vanilla, Chocolate or Red Velvet.  Marceline’s had only chocolate and red velvet the day I visited.   I purchased a Chocolate Mickey and a Red Velvet Minnie.

In past Disney cake pop posts, I’ve noted that the “cake” is moist and thick, more like a brownie.  These are no different.  This style cake pop is actually quite large — I’d say double the cake as the Jack Skellington and Mike Wazowski cake pops.  With these ones, you also have the bonus marshmallow ears and M&M eyes!

Just like the Caramel Apple, the Minnie Cake Pop also has a marshmallow flower on her ear; this one made from mini marshmallows.

Minnie featured Red Velvet cake, similar in consistency to the chocolate.  These will set you back $4.19.  My family doesn’t agree with me that they are big enough to share, but I think they are!

Also available are the Sugar Skull themed Dia de los Muertos Crisped Rice Treats on a stick.  I did not purchase them but they sure do look delicious! I may have to grab one on my next visit.

I just love how colorful and fun these Sugar Skull Treats are.  Have you seen the Dia de los Muertos treats at the Disneyland Resort? Have you tried one or do you plan to try one? Let us know in the comments below!
