Disney4me
The cupcake haven that is Disney’s Hollywood Studios is currently celebrating Halloween with an updated twist on an old favorite: the Carrot Cake Cupcake. It might not sound like a Halloween cupcake, but thanks to the jack-o-lantern on top (sporting MICKEY EARS, no less) it sure does look like one!Carrot Cake CupcakeWe’ve enjoyed our fair share of Carrot Cake Cupcakes at the Studios with the Olaf Carrot Cake Cupcake in and around the Frozen Summer Fun event over the past two summers. So what’s the twist I mentioned? This time, it’s topped off with Orange Buttercream Icing (and — of course — the Pumpkin Mickey!).Carrot Cake CupcakeWe first spotted the Carrot Cake Cupcake at Rosie’s All-American Cafe and Catalina Eddie’s at the Sunset Ranch Market earlier last week, just before they closed for a refurbishment (these spots are scheduled to reopen about a week prior to Thanksgiving).Sunset Ranch MarketBut fret not! The seasonal cupcakes can always be found at several Counter Service locations around the, park including spots like ABC Commissary, Trolley Car Cafe, Pizza Planet, Starring Rolls Cafe, and Backlot Express. I decided to stay at Rosie’s All American Cafe since Sunset Ranch Market has a large, covered outdoor seating area, and you’re almost always guaranteed to find a seat.Sunset RanchThe carrot cake base was pleasantly soft with a nice spice to it.Carrot Cake CupcakeBut in this version, there were bits of orange pieces throughout the cake as well, providing a hint of citrusy tang alongside the more traditional autumnal spices.Carrot Cake Cupcake Cut in HalfNow, my motto when it comes to the typical combo of cream cheese frosting and carrot cake is, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” So, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about the orange buttercream icing. But I really enjoyed it!The orange lent this cupcake a unique Sunshine State twist. It’s like traditional autumn meets… Florida’s version of autumn ;). But you should note… if you’re not a huge orange fan, you’ll find it best to skip this one — the flavor of the icing is really intense.Mickey Mouse PumpkinOf course, what Halloween-themed anything is complete without CANDY?! Orange and purple sprinkles on top add a touch of extra sweetness along with a bit of crunch. And your Pumpkin Mickey topper is indeed edible (it’s made of white chocolate), so get your photo ops in right away before he starts to melt…or sweat! If the Carrot Cake Cupcake makes the must-try list for you, be sure to grab it soon, because it will only be available through November 1st. On the 2nd, the Holiday Harvest Pumpkin Cupcake (also with a Mickey-themed topper) will make it’s debut at Counter Service locations throughout the Studios and remain through November 30th. No matter which date your visit falls on, one thing is for sure: autumn is shaping up to be another tasty season at Hollywood Studios! Will you be trying the Carrot Cake Cupcake?
