Disney4me
Award Wieners in Disney California Adventure serves up gourmet hot dogs and sausages that are just a little outside the box. So if you decide to stop in for a bite, bring your sense of adventure with you!Award WienersI love that Award Wieners often runs specials to coincide with whatever the Disney Movie du jour is. We’ve enjoyed some fun, film-inspired eats and drinks here, like the Teriyaki Street Dog and Coconut Milk Tea that honored Big Hero 6. And who could forget the Wizard Blizzard and Yellow Brick Roll, to mark the opening of Oz, the Great and Powerful? On a recent visit, some friends and I headed over to AW for some eats! The quick service stop is actually a repurposed Trolley Car. Don’t look for any “inside” shots here. Because there aren’t any.A quick glance at the menu gave us the full story…Menu — Click to Enlarge…But I love that there’s also a cute visual menu to give you an idea of what the dogs and sausages will look like!Picture Menu — Click to EnlargeMy friends and I decided to try, well, pretty much everything!EatsWe started with the Hot Dog Combo. This basic offering features a Premium Hot Dog (nope, no label indicating it’s all-beef or other). And a Bun. So. There you go.All of the entrees here are served with your choice of Sliced Apples or Chips. The apples are the pre-sliced baggie of apples that you get in many counter service spots, and the chips are plain old Lays.Hot Dog ComboThe next one we tried was the Chili Cheese Dog. This one comes topped with Chili and a combo of shredded Monterey Jack and Cheddar Cheese. It’s a classic.Chili Cheese DogBut from there, it got really good. Our third selection was the Sicilian Sausage. A Mild Italian Sausage Link is topped with a good amount of Pizza Sauce and shredded Mozzarella Cheese. It would have been awesome if the cheese had been melted a bit, but the flavors in the sausage and sauce were great.Sicilian SausageFinally, we had to give the Barbecue Hot Link a go. This is the same Hot Link that you’ll encounter in the Hand-Dipped Hot Link Corn Dog at Corn Dog Castle (SO good). But here, it’s topped with Grilled Onions and Barbecue Sauce.Barbecue Hot LinkNot a meat lover? No worries. Vegetarians also have an option with the Portobello Mushroom Philly, with Onions and Bell Peppers sauteed in Karl Strauss Red Trolley Ale! It’s topped with a zippy Pepper Jack Cheese for even more flavor. Sadly, no one in our group was up for this one.OverallAward Weiners is the perfect spot to grab a bite when you’re rushing to Radiator Springs for your next race, waiting for an event or show, or just taking a break between shops in DCA. It’s a quick stop, for sure (though there’s plenty of seating behind the ordering windows themselves), but a beloved one for many Disneylanders! When it comes to the food, what you see is what you get. But the quality is there, and it’s worth the price!Which one is your favorite?
