Disney4me
Thanks to The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is full of yuletide cheer!Osborne Family Tribute WindowOr perhaps I should say, Yuletide CHEERS…The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing LightsThe Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing LightsBecause along with the Dancing Lights, there are — as always — some new festive adult beverages to enjoy! There are three specialty beverages available at the Osborne Lights: the brand new Twinkling Twilight, the returning Gumdrop, and one that was so new it wasn’t even on the menu during our visit… The Spectacle! The SpectacleWe spotted The Spectacle at the holiday snack stand located right near Youse Guys Moychindise. Even though it wasn’t on the menu, here’s a glance at everything up for grabs there, anyway. (You can just spy The Spectacle tucked between the Mickey Elf Popcorn Buckets, behind cans of Angry Orchard Hard Cider and Corona Extra.)Osborne Lights Snack StandSnack Stand MenuSnack Stand MenuWe couldn’t help but notice The Spectacle… thanks to the glowing, color-changing SOUVENIR HOLIDAY LIGHT BULB GLOW CUBE in the display cup! Here’s a close-up. Can you see the Mickey-shaped facets in the cube?Souvenir Holiday Glow CubeWell, we couldn’t resist asking, and were told that this cocktail is a sour apple pucker schnapps and watermelon combo.Straight-up: The Spectacle tastes EXACTLY like a liquid apple Jolly Rancher. I couldn’t pick up on any watermelon — just total sour apple, which you’d think would be very cloying, but it was surprisingly yummy! It can be yours — along with the lightbulb glow cube — for $12.75.Of the new cocktails, The Spectacle possessed my favorite flavor, but it is pre-mixed, so my friend and I found the Twinkling Twilight — which we’ll get to next — to be the stronger drink of the two.By the way, if you are itching to get one of the Holiday Glow Cubes but don’t care to imbibe in The Spectacle, you can instead grab the Holiday Cupcake at this stand. It’s available with the glow cube for $10, or without for $6. And it’s the same decadent Gingerbread Cupcake with Cream Cheese Frosting that it has been in years past.Gingerbread Cupcake with Souvenir Glow CubeSince the scene at the Dancing Lights is set for strolling, there are also pop-up bars on either end of the display, and both have the same menu of specialty cocktails, beer, and wine.Pop-up Bar MenuPop-up Bar MenuYou’ll find the Twinkling Twilight and The Gumdrop at the pop-ups. The Twinkling Twilight is made of Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, BOLS Blue Curacao, and sweet-and-sour.Specialty Cocktail IngredientsTypically it’s also topped with lemon-lime foam, but if you’ve visited Central Florida over the past few weeks, you’re aware of the unseasonably warm temperatures that were in place during opening weekend for the Lights, and the bartenders informed us the the cans of foam weren’t able to withstand the heat. Even so, it’s still a pretty blue beverage.Twinkling TwilightAnd, really, who needs foam? Because once again… this one’s really about the glow cube ;).Souvenir Glow CubeThe Twinkling Twilight has a bit of zing to it thanks to the spiced rum, but the tangy citrus flavor of the Blue Curacao was more pronounced. Again, this drink is poured right in front of you, as opposed to the pre-mixed Spectacle. And, as mentioned, The Gumdrop has returned from last year. Just when you thought that gumdrops couldn’t get any better…they made them into a cocktail! The combo of Stoli Razberi Vodka, Chambord, Pineapple and Cranberry Juices, and Sprite capture the flavor of candy deeee-lightfully. BUT, you should know this one doesn’t come with the glow cube — just a couple of gumdrops on top.Gumdrop CocktailIf you plan to attend one of the Merry and Bright Dessert Parties this year, you just might find Peppermint Hot Chocolate that includes some extra warmth from Bailey’s Irish Cream. (Read our review of the similar Frozen Dessert Party from last year here.)Peppermint Hot ChocolateBut if you think it isn’t Christmas until you’ve had your eggnog, then Spiced Eggnog (once again found at the snack stand by Youse Guys) will be the treat for you.Spiced EggnogOf course, festive drinks aren’t limited to the Streets of America for the Osborne Lights. Last year, we found the Torched Holiday Cider at Backlot Express.Torched Holiday Cider DescriptionIt actually stayed on the menu after the holiday season, and you may find it listed now as the After Burner (while some spaces around Disney World call it by yet another name: the Angry Snowman), but it’s the same cocktail of Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Hard Cider with Fireball Cinnamon Whisky.Torched CiderLastly, here’s one you don’t have to be any particular age to enjoy… Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner features rotating flavors of Seasonal Shakes, and the Black Forest Shake might be right up your alley!Black Forest ShakeWe’ll have a full review of the Black Forest Shake soon, but if you’re looking for even more Cheer in a Cup, stay tuned during the next few weeks as we share ALL the Holiday Cheer in Walt Disney World!Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Holiday Fun!We’ve been hard at work, updating the DFB Guide to the Walt Disney World Holidays, 2015 e-Book with all the latest holiday tips and brand new info you NEED to know before you hit the parks this November, December, and January!
