You may have passed by boxes upon boxes of Minnie’s Bake Shop Chocolate Chunk Cookies in several merchandise spots around Disney World and Disneyland without even noticing.

Found throughout popular merchandise and snack combo stops such as Magic Kingdom’s Big Top Souvenirs (home to Big Top Treats) and Epcot’s Mouse Gears in Disney World, to the Fantasia Shop in the Disneyland Hotel (where I purchased mine), these grab and go snacks aren’t exactly what you would call high profile on the Disney snacking scene.

True, pre-packaged treats rarely are, but since I’ve never actually reviewed them here on the DFB, I thought it was high time to give them a go.

While you can find several treats in the similar spots with the Minnie’s Bake Shop label, today we’re trying the Family Size Box of full-sized Chocolate Chunk Cookies. The cookies in the box were further sealed with clear plastic wrapping.

Unfortunately, that didn’t help what came to pass with the cookies I purchased. I think I must have picked up a box that had been sitting there for quite some time (like…months) because they were hard and…frankly, stale.

They tasted old (you know what I mean) and were super crisp — and I’m not talking the good kind of crunchy-crisp here; I mean the can’t-stay-together-and-scatters-everywhere crumbly kind.

I’m guessing this isn’t always the case, but my batch was just… yuck. There isn’t anything unique to report about the flavor (your basic chocolate chip cookie, essentially), but even if there was, it would likely have been overshadowed by the poor condition of the cookies in my package. One theory I have is that maybe the Disneyland Hotel gift shop doesn’t see a lot of cookie-lover traffic? Regardless, I’m sorry to report that things just weren’t okay here.

I feel bad even publishing this review since I clearly (I hope) just had a super bad batch of stale cookies and that they aren’t all like this. But, I guess it’s good for you to note that super-staleness is a possibility with these pre-packaged goodies. Consider this your PSA for today.

Fortunately, though, this isn’t the only cookie our girl Minnie has up for grabs. I have had consistently great experiences with the individually packaged large Minnie’s Bake Shop Cookies (also known as Selma’s Cookies). Flavor choices include Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Raspberry, White Chocolate Chip, and Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter. You can also find them unwrapped in many Disney confectionery cases throughout the parks and resorts like the Main Street Confectionery, Goofy’s Candy Co., and Sweet Spells, just to name a few). My recommendation for your cookie fix? Stick with those, gang. I think you’ll be glad you did!
