Disney4me
If you’ve been following my recent Disney Parks Blog posts you’ve likely noticed my not-so-subtle pleas telling you to get out there and explore America this year. It’s my personal travel goal for 2016, and I’m determined to make it yours as well. Today’s item to add to your travel “must” list: Dog sledding with Adventures by Disney! Earlier this month the famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race took place, sending mushers and their fearless dogs on a 1,000-mile competition in Alaska. Among the mushers in attendance, for the 30th year in a row, was Martin Buser; four-time Iditarod winner and owner of Happy Trails Kennel, where guests on the Adventures by Disney Alaska vacation can go behind the scenes to learn the history of the Iditarod. The visit to the kennels also includes an exciting sledding demonstration, plus an up-close encounter with the racing dogs and this season’s litter of puppies. It’s the closest most of us will ever come to actually racing in the Iditarod! And who wouldn’t want to cuddle this cute pup? But Alaska isn’t the only Adventures by Disney destination that offers a dog sledding experience. On the Winter in Wyoming Long Weekend vacation you can learn the art of mushing on a modern sled. Try your hand at guiding these beautiful dogs, or simply ride the sled as you dash through serene, snowy scenery. Want to try dog sledding for yourself? Adventures by Disney just added two additional dates of their Winter in Wyoming vacation in early 2017. I can’t think of a better start to next year’s New Year’s resolution to explore America (and pet a few puppies along the way).
