Welcome back — yes, ALREADY! — to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory!

Yes, I know… we were JUST at this Counter Service spot in Port Orleans French Quarter to check out some of their New Orleans-inspired eats for lunch (and, of course, some Beignets; ‘cuz you GOTTA if you’re at Port Orleans).

So, why are we back so soon? Well, because even though the Beignets remain the signature snack around here, I couldn’t help checking out the other goods in the ol’ bakery case. You know, the basics like cupcakes (the icing is purple, green, and gold for Mardi Gras here, you know), cookies, Krispy Treats, cakes, and the like.

But I also spotted a newer snack that stood out among the others…

Why? Well, because 1) It was a brownie, and 2) It was shaped like Mickey Mouse!

And you know how we love our food with ears around here (Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars, Mickey Pretzels, Mickey Waffles, and Mickey Caramel Apples, to name a few), so this was a must-grab.

Now, I was told that sometimes these new brownies are prepared with various candy toppings like peanut butter chips or M&Ms, but it was just the basics on my visit.

Which ended up being perfectly fine by me, because THIS one is enrobed in a super rich, fudgy chocolate.

Underneath the coating (you can see how thick the layer is a little better in the picture below), the dense brownie itself had more fudge-like bits baked throughout.

And for the $3.49 price tag, it even seemed larger than the typical brownie portion.

For right now, we have only spotted these at Sassagoula Floatworks, but we’ll keep an eye out to see if they appear at other locations. But for any chocolate lovers visiting the Port, the Mickey Brownie definitely offers a great excuse to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the French Quarter as well as a delicious snack!

And with that, it’s so long once more from Sassagoula!
